Anna se Huis is a cavernous peachy house set one street back and a mere 150m from Yzerfontein's long sandy shore. This direct proximity to the beach, the ocean views spilling out from just about every room and angle, and the very reasonable price tag makes Anna a most feasible option - not to mention the added fact that Cape Town CBD sits just 80km up the coast, making gettting there on Friday eve all the more hassle-free.
Plus, in a world where suitable group getaways (think old-friends' reunion, 80th birthday, etc) are fairly few and far between, Anna se Huis can quite easily accommodate a group of 14 happy weekenders - in a total of five double bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Stepping past the front door, the decor and general interior design is functional and childproof - while unlikely to grace the pages of a House & Leisure centrespread, it makes for an easy and relaxed kuier by die see. All the practical essentials are in place - the kitchen is open-plan and fully equipped (micro, dishwasher etc), the two living areas (with DSTV) and dining room are big and airy, the bedrooms serve their main purpose well, with linen and towels provided.
A wide balcony leads off from several rooms upstairs, yielding a vista of cavorting whales, cavorting tannies-with-maltese, and passing oil tankers, while downstairs there's a narrow lawn with braai area and another generous slice of ocean view. Never thought you would spend a lekker weekend in Yzerfontein? Well, now's your chance!

"My family and I were totally impressed with Anna se Huis when we stayed there in December 2011. The house is an impressive two level building with fantastic views of the ocean from two large balconies. Everything we needed was supplied, from braai tongs to cutlery, crockery and bedding. We were in need of nothing and the items we brought along were not needed and taken home unused. Bring only yourselves to this place. The owners Stephanie and John were friendly and professional and when we left we felt like family. Pets are not allowed but the owners made an exception and our two dachunds were accommodated as long as they were not allowed on the furniture. We felt that it was a gracious and fair compromise. We paid R1200 per night for six people and extra for the rest of the family who came and went as they pleased. The owners were very flexible in that regard which I liked. I searched many accommodations on the internet and found Anna se huis to be excellent value for money. It worked out to R200 per person per night. Where else would you be able to have a great summer holiday by the sea with all your loved ones around you for the same money? It's 80km from my home in Cape Town; I put in R100 fuel and drove back home with the same fuel. I considered Paternoster seriously but am glad I chose Yzerfontein. The beach is a swimmers delight beautiful and clean and this town is - dare I say - a lot safer."
