"Such a beautiful spot on the river surrounded by stunning trees, bird life, frogs and vineyards. The setting was lovely and private. We did walks around the Sharon fruit farm, braai'd and picnicked and played games. Was a very relaxing weekend. Our four legged friend also had the time of her life being able to run around freely. The host, Sandra was very professional and let us know where everything was. Our cabin lacked an oar for the canoe although it was a little windy so we weren't in the mood for rowing anyway. Next time we will definitely come back and go for a row down the river. Thanks for the most amazing weekend. Just what we needed."

"Went as a group of 11 in two of the three cottages. It is a beautiful setting amongst the farm, river and mountains in the distance. Cosy cottages - indoor braai area was perfect for the winter temperatures. Full provision of kitchen amenities and appliances, bedding (and good comfortable beds), etc - a real help for reducing our own belongings that we had to bring with, amongst other things - and for the price paid, there are few other places that can match it. Wooden floors were noisy to walk on (creaked) and bedroom walls not fully rising to the ceilings making it difficult to sleep without hearing another person moving/talking elsewhere inside the cottage, but otherwise a perfect budget getaway!"

We had an absolute great time, It was our second year anniversary on the 11th of June and we went away the 15th of June, seeing that it was Fathers Day the Sunday we decided to take the kids along. We all loved the inside fireplace and the view of the Breede River outside. We all just cuddled up and spent some good quality time, would definitely go there again."

"We stayed in the lovely Shiraz cottage at Bordeaux River Cottages, overlooking the tranquil Breede River. Surrounded by vineyards and fruit trees with the river below the cottage and hosts of birds in the surrounding trees, we had an amazing stay. We were fortunate to hear and see a fish eagle swoop over the river. We swam in the river, canoed, took long walks through the vineyards and orchards and also enjoyed a bag of sweet plums received from our host. We would love to visit again."

"We stayed at Chardonnay Cottage - it is about 3 stories above the river so beware if you have young kids as the stairs down to the river level have no gate and it would be quite a nasty tumble as it is steep. If you have fluffy dogs with you in January as there are sticky, barbed grass seeds in the field behind the house that get caught so tight in their fur that you need professional help to get them seed-free again (neither scissors nor shaver worked as the seeds were so tightly caught against their skin). Perhaps a tight shave of their feet and legs would prevent this. Walking through the orchards with the dogs was awesome and they had an absolute blast! All the important amenities are in place, from sunlight soap to bucket and cleaning cloth! It is very peaceful and enjoyable over all."

"We stayed in Shiraz over New Year and had family join us in Chardonnay (the next house down). What a perfect setting. Teenagers played in the river, adults chilled on the various decks. Plenty of options for shade in the hot summer. The wind came up in the afternoon to cool things down and dropped at sunset making evenings around the braai stunning. We will be back."

"What a gorgeous setting! Al lovely log cabin, beautiful big Blue Gums to provide shade, multiple log decks to chase the shade, the river was just beautiful with canoeing and a rope swing into the water for the kids. There are steep steps down to the water though if that's an issue for you! The beds were so comfortable. We went with family and took two of the cabins and had the most wonderful New Year's ever. I can't wait to go back!"

"We always have an amazing time and love going back to Bordeaux. The cottages are not on top of each other but within walking distance. This provides all visitors with their own privacy. The canoes and fishing are a real attraction for my husband and the boys - a definite draw card. I enjoy the cosiness of the cottages and braai areas. The mountain surroundings with beautiful sunrises and sunsets and the starry skies at night all add to the appeal of this place. I would like to thank our hostesses Sandra & Linda for the great service provided. Bordeaux is a definite recommendation to anybody looking for a wonderful place to go away to."

"Bordeaux is a wonderful spot to get away from the hustle & bustle of city life with peaceful, tranquil surroundings on the river edge. The cottages are cosy enough and not too small. There are lovely deck areas for braaiing which we have taken full advantage of the times we had visited. Hubby even caught a fish this past weekend which he obviously needed to put back into the river. My point was that it was too cute to kill and eat. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked all 3 cottages during November 2016 and are taking our families away for a bit of a break from their hectic daily schedules. Thank you very much to the hostesses Linda & Sandra for the graciousness extended. We look forward to our next visit."

Ek en my verloofde hou elke jaar ons verjaarsdae saam aangesien ons naby aan mekaar verjaar, en hierdie jaar het ons hierdie stukkie paradys saam die beste vriende spandeer. En was dit nou prettig. Alles was van goeie gahalte, alles waaraan jy kan dink is daar en n stiller, rustiger plek langs die rivier gaan jy nie sommer iewers ander kry nie. "We were at the Chardonay cottage for a romantic weekend. Arriving early evening on the Friday night, we were met and taken to our cottage by Linda, our hostess. The wind was terrible, but the indoor braai made it very comfortable. The Saturday morning was stunning weather and we went out early morning on the river with the canoe provided and a couple of beers, fishing of course! At least caught one bass which later went on the fire for supper. Sunday morning we received a SMS from Linda telling us that we can stay until the afternoon if we would like to. What a way to clean your head and restart your batteries. I would recommend to anyone that enjoys a good breakaway and loves nature. Photo opportunities are excellent. I have got the most stunning pics. So take a chance and book now."

"I've visited Bordeaux River Cottages twice thus far and despite the different weather each time, the experience has been relaxing and revitalizing. It's a beautiful location, the various kinds of visiting birds are spectacular to listen to and see, and the cottage itself is light, woody, and more than comfortable. Taking a canoe down the Breede River was a lovely experience! As for the friendly and professional manager, she made our stay pleasant by communicating well over email regarding cost. "Bordeaux Rivier cottages was exactly what everybody living in the city should experience. The tranquil river setting is perfect. There is no need for TV. Just watching the birds, listening to their different sounds makes this experience unique. Even watching field mice running around in the bushes was the best ever. The sound of jumping fish at night was very special and then last, to walk around with only nature surrounding you makes this an experience to return to. 110% worthwhile."
