Budget Getaways Review
Compact and cosy, Das Steinhaus is a neat and functional little base for two in the Napier hinterland.
Situated on a 100ha working farm, the stone unit is private, with pastoral vistas over grazing sheep and cattle meadows.
Comprising an open-plan space, the stone-walled interior is fitted with twin beds, a small sitting area, a spot to whip up some tea, and a loo and shower. Towels and linen are provided.
A glass sliding door opens to a private lawned area, where you'll also find parking under the trees and a portable braai.
Thrown into the deal is a hearty breakfast at the main house, sourced largely from the farm's organic produce. No Wimpy-style eating at the Das.
For action, there are a few walking trails meandearing through the fynbos, Napier is just down the road, Cape Aghulhas within easy reach, and a host of back roads and tracks between the two to explore on your mountain bike.
Bare bones comfort, good value, wholesome brekkie, good location, Das Steinhaus plugs a useful gap.
