Off the beaten track and rubbing shoulders with the indigenous forest, Forest Edge is as close as you will come to living in an original woodcutter's cottage - but with a few more luxuries than your average lumberjack is used to.

There's a choice of two 'standard' and three 'luxury' cottages, all tastefully furnished in a clean and neat style.
The standard units, namely Fairy Den and Foxglove offer pretty good value for what you get, featuring shaded verandas overlooking the forest and a private braai area, an open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen area, a fireplace and heaters for winter, fans for summer; telly and a DVD player, plus a small library of movies and books.
Bed-wise, you’ve got a main bedroom with double bed, and a second bedroom with bunk beds. All linen and towels are provided - but bring your own towel for that skinny dip in nature.
While the luxury units (Fieldmouse, Froggy Pond and Firefly) fall out of the Budget Getaways ballpark (with prices pegged at around R580pp), if you’re looking for something extra special they’re packed with plenty of wow-factor. Top-quality linen and towels, Queen beds and top-notch furnishings accompanied by cast-iron fireplaces, teak outdoor furniture, Weber braai, flatscreen DSTV and free WiFi are on the inventory.
What's more each cottage has a romantic Victorian bath, outdoor shower and hammock, which gives you some idea of your priorities at Forest Edge.
Moving beyond the front door, long walks under the forest canopy, the brilliant Homtini mountain bike trail (definitely bring your own bike!), secluded rocks pools, birdwatching (look out for red flash of the Knysna loerie), leisurely braais to the night sounds of the forest, will be the order of your stay.
