With gardens spilling into the valley below and gorgeous views etched by the distant Outeniqua peaks, you'll find Fynbos Garden Suite a soothing world unto itself and a useful springboard to Wilderness, its lakes and the nearby trails and beaches.
Zooming in closer, this 7ha smallholding lies just outside the little village of Hoekwil, and the accommodation comprises an annex to the main farmhouse where friendly host Karen keeps things ticking over smoothly.
You have your own private entrance and small deck, as well as free reign to the garden, pool and braai area.
The interior is open-plan, stylishly decorated and kitted with kingsize bed, sleeper couch for the kids, a comfy living area with Jetmaster, and a fully equipped kitchen.
The ensuite bathroom features a bath, shower and loo.
Zip open the glass sliding doors and you're on the timber deck, with it's small breakfast table for that early morning cuppa.
Mod-cons come in the form of telly and WiFi internet.
There’s little incentive to leave the property. Submerge yourself in the pool; laze about on the deck; follow the footpath cutting through the fynbos to the river below and reward yourself with a paddle in crystal clear waters.
Further afield there are a myriad options, from the beaches at Wilderness (8km away), to day hikes in lush indigenous forests, to various water-based activities on Swartvlei and the Island lakes.
