iThabiseng means 'enjoy yourself' in Northern Sotho - a motto that owners Ortrud and Peter Herty clearly live up to in the calm, aesthetic space they've created.
Set in the foothills of the Waterberg Mountains, this 8.5ha guest farm is home to some stunning wildlife - among it, impala, blesbok and rich birdlife - as well as six simple cottages that range from intimate two-sleepers to a spacious pad that can cram in 12 guests.
The cottages are all generously equipped and boast huge stoeps with outdoor braai areas – a must have for those balmy summer evenings where Paleo boy/girl in you craves nothing more than turning meat over coals, listening to the songs of the “sonbeesie”.
Although the cottages are fully rigged for self-catering, iThabiseng does serve up a delicious breakfast should you desire it.
For families with kids, iThabiseng is probably going to feature at the top of your list of getaways. Their play area offers a variety of swings, hammocks, a sandpit, slide and a stack of cool outdoor toys. There's also a swimming pool.
Thanks to its picturesque setting and the friendly, personal service on offer, iThabiseng Guest Farm is right up there when it comes to family retreats.
"Ample facilities in large detached cottage, lovely pool area. We opted for the breakfast which was excellent. It was only a few minutes in the car to the town, so well positioned. Overall it was tremendous value for what we paid. Would highly recommend this accommodation."

"It's a very nice place and safe. Our weekend was super, we enjoyed it a lot. I love it because it suits all seasons. This weekend it was cold but the swimming pool was warm at the house we had a gas heater. iThabiseng Guest Farm is the best, we are coming back in December without doubt."
