Budget Getaways Review
Jameson Country Cottages has a bit of the old English-country feel about it - six comfortable cottages set around a pool in a compact garden, with open grassland stretching out beyond.
Looking at the pics, the cottages are fairly simple affairs, with tiled floors, cane furniture, cottage-style kitchens, Victorian baths, bedrooms with views onto the garden.
Several of the units have fireplaces, some have ceiling fans, and all have braais - we would expect nothing less in the North West!
The options range from two- to four-sleepers. For a group getaway, you can book all six units and have the entire place to yourself. In this case a total 12 guests can be accommodated.
Nice little extras include daily servicing, late afternoon turn downs, treats on the pillow, home-made cookies and tea and coffee in the cottages.
What to do? Leisurely braais, lazing around the pool, country strolls, trips into the dorp, bonding time with the family....
"A tranquil stay. Good service with a smile. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again. Only disappointment was that the shop and restaurant were not open during the week as I was led to believe. All in all a super experience."

"The cottages are really lovely, a little on the dark side and could do with a bit of brightening up. Besides that they are clean, well looked after and give you everything you need to have a relaxing weekend away. I will go back soon."

"The weekend stay at Jameson was one of the most enjoyable weekends away. They made our stay most memorable. The staff are very well trained to look after the guests and with us travelling a lot we know. Thank you for a very pleasant weekend and most certainly looking forward to visit again in near future."

"We had a lovely time! The Owners and staff were fantastic. The garden is charming and boasts quite a selection of birds. The cottages are extremely neat and clean and the whole place has a country feel. It has an old world charm. I think "tranquil" is a good way to describe the atmosphere."

"Lovely cottages set 10km outside the small town of Magliesburg. We had Cottage 6 which was a large cottage with fireplace (needed for winter booking). The cottage was very clean, the owners and staff very helpful, kind and friendly. The surrounding grounds are beautiful. Only downside was we had a few ants showing up along the window of Cottage 6 which we mentioned. A quick spray (which they provided) did the trick. No worries though as you are in the mountains - there might be some insects! Very happy with experience and would happily go back again."
