Not to be confused with its older sibling down at the water's edge, Kaaimans Holiday Cottage is a modern and spacious six-sleeper abode perched above the Kaaimans River on nearly 40ha of private estate.
With 360-degree views of forest, ocean and the Outeniqua Mountains, it’s no wonder the guest feedback for this one edges towards Wow factor. “It is a gem, and the best part of it is its location,” says one happy guest. “The view from the cottage is absolutely stunning!” says another.
Recently renovated and tastefully furnished, three bedrooms make up your sleeping quarters: a Queen room with large ocean/mountain-sucking windows; a second bedroom with bunk beds; and a third with twin beds.
The bathrooms are shared, one of these with bath and shower-over-bath, the other with separate loo and handbasin.
As with most of the house, the living area has large windows and sliding doors, meaning no need to get up from the couch to enjoy your vistas.
The kitchen and lounge are open-plan, the former well-equipped for self-catering. There’s a breakfast bar in the kitchen, while over in the lounge you’ve got a flatscreen with full bouquet DSTV.
Stepping out, the wrap-around patio and braai area once again makes full use of the location. The lawned garden is partly enclosed, if Fido is joining the party, please make prior arrangements with your hosts.
With Kaaimans beach and the well-known waterfall and river on your doorstep, Wilderness and its restaurants just down the road, the convenience of George just up the pass, Kaaimans Holiday Cottage has a lot to it.
At the end of the day though, it's all about waking up to that view. Not so?
