The sluggish waters of the Umlalazi River cuts through 175ha of rolling grassland and culminates in a gorgeous lagoon and beach and the Zini River Estate - an uber-chilled rural escape just outisde Mtunzini village, 140 kays up the coast from Durban.
Your chosen abode for the task, Kya Bella is a modern six-sleeper home with clean-cut lines, contemporary finishes and plenty of glass to let in those unobstructed vistas over the surrounding landscape.
Looking at the general flow, you’ve got three bedrooms, the main of which is ensuite and opens to a balcony. The other two open to a grassed courtyard.
The main bedroom has a King bed, the balance a King and twins and a shared bathroom. All towels and linen are provided.
The living area is open-plan to a large kitchen and dining area and leads via sliding doors to a balcony with view over the river fringe. There’s a TV (SABC only) and a DVD player.
Down in the garden, the kids are taken care of with their own entertainment area and jungle gym.
There's plenty action within easy reach of Kya Bella: fishing, hiking, canoeing and mountain biking, board walks cutting through dune forest and mangroves. The beach is just four kays away, while days trips direction Balllito (88km) and Hluhluwe Game Reserve are also possible options.
A stylish home set in a gorgeous untrammeled neck of the Kwazulu-Natal woods, Kya Bella looks well worth escaping Durbs for.
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was beautiful, neat, easy to keep clean and very spacious. The pictures on Safari don't do the place justice. I really admire the simple yet sophisticated d�cor, the sliding doors allow for a lot of natural light, the views were majestic. It was peaceful and very relaxing, the whole experience was just too amazing for words, the beaches were clean and the good weather helped, and we managed to catch a few zebras on camera, they were roaming freely just outside the estate. Hubby caught some nice fish as well, and my son thoroughly enjoyed the kiddies facilities at the house and on the beachfront."
