Budget Getaways Review
Lets kick off with a typical guest comment for this cosy George gem: “We would never stay anywhere else in George – in fact we will look for reasons to visit George just to be able to stay at Lollypop again!”
That said, there are a few other possible reasons to base oneself here: a stunning mountain backdrop with hiking galore, fairly secluded beaches 9km away, 18 holes at Fancourt (stomping ground of The Big Easy), an easy hop over the Outeniqua Pass to the very different Klein Karoo...
Down to the nitty gritty of cutesy-named Lollipop Cottage. Situated in a quiet, tree-lined street near the Botanical Gardens in central George, the cottage sleeps four, with the main bedroom featuring a king-size bed, plus sleeper couch available for the young 'uns in the living room. There’s also a large shower and twin-basined bathroom ensuite, and a central loo.
Packed with charm and walls adorned with original artworks, the comfortable living area sports DSTV and Wi-fi. If the George rain holds off (CAW = Cold And Wet, though with global warming this is hardly the case nowdays) the outside living area makes for pleasant braai’s and al fresco dining in your own private setting.
With a free laundry service available for longer stays, off-street secure parking and a convenient location, Lollipop Cottage seems fair value at around R350pp. You be the judge!
So, while George CBD may not be your drawcard, Lollipop Cottage certainly could be.
