A soothing combination of French, Moroccan and classic Karoo, Moroc-Karoo strikes that happy balance of elegant accommodation and gorgeous setting.
Perched right at the foot of the Swartberg and gazing over swathes of Matjiesrivier Valley farmland, the two accommodation options offer oodles of creative flair and attention to detail.
Both the main guesthouse and the four-sleeper Karoo Provencale Cottage centre around an open-air cobbled courtyard, with a splashpool taking centrestage.
First up, the guesthouse offers four double or twin suites (Kambro, Klapperbos, Kraalbessie & Katbos), each with ensuite bathroom, private entrances and crisp, white linen and towels.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and the communal living area is comfortable and inviting. The house can be booked as a single unit (sleeps 8), or as separate suites for couples.
The Karoo Provencale Cottage also opens to a central courtyard. It's a double-storey unit, with gorgeous vistas over mountain and valley. Draped in earthy tones and romantic aura, you can expect quality linen, fluffy towels and quality finishes.
The cottage has a double ensuite bedroom on the upper floor, while downstairs there's a cosy living area with fireplace, plus additional double bed and open-plan kitchenette.
Scrumptious breakfasts, braai packs and picnic baskets can be had on request.
If you can drag yourself away from the splash pool and cool interiors, there’s a guided walk through a succulent garden, an in-house art gallery and plenty in the way of hiking and biking trails in the area.
