You'll find this spot rooted in a bright tropical garden in one of Knysna's most heavenly corners.
Protea Guest House is made up by three timber cottages, all exhibiiting individual flair.
Cottage One has two generous bedrooms and two bathrooms - versus one bedroom apiece in the other cottages.
The beds are draped in quality linen, with electric blankets to warm them chilled bones come the damp Garden Route winter.
The lounge and kitchen area is comfy and well-equipped for self-catering. However, being a guest house, we reckon opt rather for a delicious brekkie served in the comfort of your own private sundeck.
Standard to the cottages are braai facilities, among the best views Knysna has to offer, and warm hospitality.
Walking distance to the cenral throng, not too far from the Knysna Waterfront, Protea Guest House is as good a pick as any.
"There were a few minor niggles, but the view straight over the Heads was spectacular. The place is clean and comfortable, and though we only stayed one night, the kitchen is as good as one usually gets at self-catering places, with most, but not all of what one would have at home. Our cottage had two bathrooms but they were both rather tiny, with only showers and no bath.... So if you're a bath junky like me, you might not like it for a long term stay."
