Sprawled along the river just outside Sabie, Sabie River Camp is one of those places that even the adamant non-camper will enjoy.
With a wide range of accommodation options, it has something for everyone: camping and caravan sites, three 10-sleeper dorm rooms, en-suite pre-erected safari tents, more pre-erected tents on stilts, three backpacker family rooms.
The caravan/camping sites all come with electrical points and shared neat and clean ablution facilities. The boma campsite is available for those traveling in a really large group. The dorm rooms and family backpacker rooms share bathrooms, living areas and a well-equipped kitchen. If you're booking one of the latter, remember to bring your own towels, linen and favorite pillow.
The safari tents are fully equipped, with a private bathroom, camper's kitchenette and braai area. The tents on stilts have access to a communal kitchen and shared ablution facilities. Linen and appliances are provided for these but you need to bring along your own towels, cooking and eating utensils, and sentimental coffee mug. In other words, a few logistics to consider.
Sabie River Camp doesn't only offer decent accommodation, the setting is a lovely one - right on the banks of the Sabie River - with loads of activities on tap: among them a heated rock pool, open-air bar, and a rim-flow pool.
Although only a stone's throw from town, the experience is of a secluded spot in the bush. With a few neighbours to keep you company...

"It was amazing. The assistance we received on small matters (such as getting us a braai) was friendly and prompt. The concern and personal contact made us feel at home and the ablution blocks were 5-star, with cleaning personnel present at all time. Can't wait to go back!"
