Gracing the slopes of the Fernwood Reserve - a private 230ha shareblock far below Cathkin Peak - The Bell is a well-appointed six- sleeper chalet that's equipped with all you’d ever want from a mountain abode.
With a modern and luxurious vibe, the chalet is totally secluded, with little more than endless mountain views, tranquility and the occasional antelope paying you a visit.
The living areas, both indoor and outdoor, make great use of the surrounding vistas. The large open-plan living room and kitchen spills onto a covered patio with braai and a hefty expanse of lawned garden.
Sleeping wise, the chalet has three bedrooms (doubles and a twin), the main of these ensuite, with an additional shared bathroom for the rest.
Added comforts include a reading room with mountain views, a large fireplace, under-floor heating in the main bedroom, electric heaters in the other bedrooms, and DSTV.
You also have use of the reserve's swimming pool and tennis courts.

"The Bell @ Fernwood was all I could ask for in a break away from the hustle and bustle of Joburg. The Bell was a very well thought out, high quality chalet that accommodated all of our needs and wants! There were hiking trails, a tennis court and fishing. The DSTV bouquet was a real treat, and there was great 3G signal. There is lots to do in the area, and some great shops along the way, it's a really wonderful place. Thank you to Shirley and all the staff, who were very helpful, accommodating and friendly."

"The Berg was very hot during the day, but cool in the evenings - the chalet was very airy and equipped and comfortable. The reserve is very peaceful with many walking trails. There are plenty of springbok, zebra and horses on the reserve, which graze around the chalets. Staff very responsive and pleasant. A great stay."

"As first timers to the Drakensberg, we were in awe of the beautiful scenery that surrounded us. The unit was AMAZING. Clean with modern furnishings. We felt right at home. There were many a night where we had visits from the horses and zebra's on the property. A person tends to forget the beauty we are surrounded by in nature, and the Bell just reminded us of what life truly has to offer. Thanks so much a wonderful stay. We definitely have a new favourite holiday spot."
