Budget Getaways Review

Cue the banjo! "I wanna be a lumberjack, I wanna be a lumberjack..." Well, now's your chance!

We haven't got out there yet, but judging by the glowing feedback The Fazenda sounds like the perfect antidote to compulsive weekend mall trawling. Especially if you love dramatic mountain backdrops and have a weakness for unpretentious rustic - as long as its clean and decently equipped, which this particular spot is.

What you have here are two simple-as-they-come log cabins perched under towering mountains, framed by pine forest behind and a dam at the front. Both cabins sleep four, with a double and two single beds each - extra mattresses can be supplied (at R100pp) if you wish to bring a few more mates along. As the cabins lie within meters of each other we definitely recommend you rustle up a small tribe and book the entire place.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove and fridge. Of course, there's no electricity, but the chalets have 12-volt lights and rechargeable lanterns. The bathroom has a shower, with the luxury of hot water, again provided by gas, and all linen and towels are supplied.

Donning the Stokies and stepping gingerly outside, you'll find a superbly appointed braai, with a heap of wood. Besides braaing hard, there is bass fishing and swimming to be had in the dam, forest and mountain hikes in the majestic Langeberg, plus a whole platter of culinary and cultural pleasures in Swellendam, a mere 4km down the road.

Guest Reviews

"This place is like something out of a fairytale. The mountain cabin with beautiful views. Ina and Andrew are such friendly people and they even left chocolates and champagne, because it was our honeymoon. Such a beautiful place."

"My fiance and I spent two amazing nights at Fazenda and we can't wait to go back. The cabin is simple but has everything you could need during your stay. We especially enjoyed hiking up the river in the neighbouring nature reserve where there is a beautiful waterfall and dam only half an hour's walk away. The two cabins are fairly close together, so if you're after a completely secluded break keep that in mind! Most of all we were exceptionally thankful for the owners, Ina and Andrew, who took the time to help us fix our car (which had broken down upon arrival). They are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome and looked after."

"What an amazing setting which forced us to switch off from electronics. It did us well. The boys aged 5 and 3 did not miss the TV one bit and absolutely loved the setting and walks everyday and mom and dad had lots of time to unwind and chat."

"What an absolute gem! We had the most amazing stay in the one of the cabins over the Easter weekend. The scenery was breaktaking. So relaxing. I would suggest hiring out both cabins as they are really close to each other, but we were lucky enough to have a nice young family staying next door. We are already planning our return. Thanks Ina for a wonderful weekend."

"Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone about this place, I want to book it again! I cant believe I have never been here before. The setting is truly amazing, with the view of your private swimming dam and the beautiful mountain. Being able to walk straight into nature reserve was a bonus. We booked just one cabin, and were lucky that the other cabin was vacant, so we had the whole area to ourselves. I would recommend booking both cabins as a group, as they are close together. The only thing I can think of that would make this 100% ideal, would be an indoors fireplace for chilly nights, but being a wood cabin I guess this could be risky. Thanks Ina for all the information on walk routes, and the box of chocolates. We'll be back!"

"We had a fantastic getaway. The place itself is beautiful. We enjoyed the zip-lining and canoes."

"We had the most relaxing, adventurous and incredible 2 night stay at Fazenda. From mushroom spotting in the forest, to walking up the massive mountains ravine with beautiful waterfalls and rock pools along the way, to a fully equipped and beautiful cabin out in privacy of nature with your own private damn and fireplace... We will definitely be back soon."

"One could not ask for more. This was our second time and we will definitely be back ."

"The stay with Fazenda Log Cabins was amazing. The views and over all experience of being secluded in nature was definitely worth the trip and I'd definitely do it again soon"

"Oh my goodness! Magnificent. From the scenery, the facilities, to the welcome from the gracious hosts. A truly family friendly (and doggie friendly) getaway hidden on the slopes of the Swellendam Mountains. The kids had an amazing weekend and the parents even more so. There were no tablets, phones or TV for the kids and they couldn't care less. It was the perfect place to reconnect and spend time with family. We can't wait to go back again. We booked again as soon as we left, this time 3 nights because 2 nights are just not enough to enjoy the peace and tranquility of this fantastic venue. Thank you Ina and Andrew for the family memories we made at your little slice of heaven. See you in February 2017."

"Fazenda Log cabins - definitely a treasured jewel that we will visit again and again. We were 8 people and booked both houses. Even our 3 four-legged kids were welcome and they just loved it just as much as we did. My son and his girlfriend arrived first and were escorted to the two wooden log cabins by the owner who showed them how everything worked. There wS complimentary coffee, tea, sugar and chocolates, clean linen and towels and lots of braai wood stacked at all 3 braai's. The cabins were immaculately clean and very comfortable. It started to rain just after we arrived and continued until Saturday around noon, but we could conveniently braai outside on the undercover wooden deck and also cooked our breakfast there the next morning. The young and young at heart really enjoyed the Foefie slide and the two canoe's. We also went for long strolls on the farm and into the mountain. This is the kind of place where you go to switch off completely. Just you and the most beautiful piece of nature. I will (and have) recommended this place to all and everybody that loves the beauty and quiet of nature."

"Our weekend at The Fazenda Log Cabins was magical! The most beautiful view to wake up to in the morning is the mountains and the woods. It was so secluded and relaxing, away from the everyday rush of life. We were there in the middle of winter and it was freezing but the cabin was very cosy and warm inside with all the facilities you need. Ina and her husband were very accommodating and lovely people - they even left a gift in our cabin for my husband's birthday which was just so special! After I posted a few photos on Facebook everyone asked me for more information and I'm sure they got a lot more bookings because of the beauty of the place. We are also planning on going back in the summer months and will be taking our families with. Best value for money I've ever got!"

"Excellent place to stay, couldn't ask for more."

"We will definitely be coming back."

"Our arrival at Fazenda Log Cabins had us in paroxysms of excitement as we drew nearer and nearer the foot of the Langeberg mountain range. Coming upon these two sweet log cabins felt like we'd stepped out of Africa and into some story telling of forests, streams and dams with nature abundant! That night as we looked up into the sky upon a plethora of stars and the milky-way, made us realise just how much the city lights take away from us. Ina and her husband welcomed us and made us feel right at home. Her small display of a box of chocolates left for us on the kitchen counter shows it's important to them that their guests feel valued. The cabins are immaculately kept and a wonder to behold too having been built by hand with the wood materials from right there on the farm. While we didn't go in summer and swimming wasn't possible, walking up into the mountains, watching the morning mist dissipate and curling around the fire outside, listening to the quiet, restored some relaxation to our weary souls. We certainly hope to return in summer!"

"Breathtaking! The hosts are great and it is perfectly peaceful among the mountains. The log cabin was well kitted with all we needed. We'll be back!"

"Dit was beslis 'n juweel tussen die berge. Baie netjies en skoon. Goeie kombuis ware en iets van alles. Die kussings is op 'n beter standaard as sommige 5 ster hotelle. Sal beslis aanbeveel en weer gaan besoek. Heerlike rustige naweek tussen die berge. Stilte vir die siel."

"I honestly do not know how to start with this review! My wife and I wanted a break from the everyday hustle and bustle and decided to get away for a few days. At first, we did not know whereto. A few clicks on the Internet and this beautiful place just sparked at me. When we arrived, we were met by Andrew who took us up to the Log Cabin. While we were on the porch, Andrew tried to explain where everything was that we could use but half the time I could not hear him as I was so amazed at the beauty of nature that surrounded us. That evening, whilst having a braai, we heard the frogs, birds, crickets and other animals that one would not even hear when you at home. There was more than enough wood for days and days. The Log Cabins are very secluded and when we posted our photos on Facebook, all of our friends could not believe the beauty that surrounded us and wanted the contact numbers. A special word of thanks to Andrew and Ina in the way they made us feel at home. Thank you for your hospitality and believe we will be back for sure."

"Wow, what a lovely setting. We were looking for a log cabin in the mountains to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday, and got so much more! Our hike up the river was breathtakingly beautiful. The kids loved the foefie slide, canoe's and the dam right on our doorstep. The log cabin is nicely decorated with clean linen and all you need in terms of kitchen accessories. We will definitely book there again."

"My partner and I stayed at the Fazenda for Valentine's weekend...and oh what an amazing experience it was! Ina and Andrew really know the meaning of hospitality. The personal touches to the cabins were amazing. We were welcomed by a cute little vase with a valentine's souvenir in it, some heart-shaped chocolates and 2 mini champagne bottles accompanied by champagne flutes. The cabin was really clean, has ALL the utensils and equipment you need and ample bedding and towels. The bathroom cabinet was complete with soap, shampoo and conditioner. There is more than enough firewood to last throughout each night of sitting on the porch and listening to the wonderful sounds of nature. The mountain view from the cabin is breath-taking and the sounds of nature is indescribable. We took a walk up the river and came across a gorgeous rock pool where we spent an amazing 3 hours of peace and pure bliss. Ina and Andrew are such friendly folk and they take pride in providing their guests with a special and disturbance-free stay. I would definitely recommend The Fazenda to anyone who needs a break from the hustle and bustle of city life for a decent, peaceful and most pleasant break-away."

"Love it!"

"A hidden gem!"

"Thank you Ina and Andrew, we had an outstanding weekend at The Fazenda Log Cabins. The peace, tranquility and beauty was just what we needed after a very stressful start to this year. The cabins are situated at the foot of the Langeberg mountains and over look a small dam. As a city slicker I like electricity, and was initially skeptical of the cabin being warm, so true to my travelling spirit, I have a few trusty items that are always part of my travelling inventory, one being an electric blanket, which was exchanged for hot water bottles. A gas heater was the other home comfort to join us for our getaway. Both of these items were very welcome as the nights were cold. Using the gas to cook as little as possible as braais are the order of the day and having plenty of hot water I was quite content. The cabin is comfortable, clean and enough towels and a couple of really cozy blankets are provided, however, the lighting is a little inadequate in the bedroom and in the kitchen area, so for the next visit a couple of gas or battery operated lights will be added to our travelling inventory. We highly recommend this gem for families or couples looking to have an amazing weekend or holiday as far away from civilization as you want to be."

"Absolutely amazing! The photos does not do this place any justice."

"In two-weeks time we are going back to enjoy another weekend away from all the hustle and bustle of city live to peace and tranquility. Will and have already recommend to friends and family."

"An absolute jewel surrounded by breathtaking scenery."

"This was truly an awesome weekend, and an experience on a piece of heaven on earth. Breathtaking views and beautiful cabins that is well equipped. In two weeks time we, as a family, will visit this place again away from the hustle and bustle of city life."

"This was truly an awesome weekend, and an experience on a piece of heaven on earth. Breathtaking views and beautiful cabins that is well equipped."

"Wow, will definitely be back! So much to do and so little time. Kids caught two nice sized large mouth bass in the top dam."

"Better than expected, a true mountain log cabin, which was very well appointed. A gem away from the city if you want the quiet of nature, absolutely no sound other than birdsong and baboon calling during day and night. Beautiful walks in crisp clear mountain air and ice-cold clear mountain streams. We will visit again soon."

"What an Unbelievably beautiful surrounding and well laid out log cabin. A true little gem. With such a beautiful surrounding, it was food for my soul. Not only was the cabin well laid out, well maintained and clean but our reception was warm and helpful - lovely owners. Special little touches from the owners made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be returning and will encourage others to do so as well."

"We have been here several times, absolutely beautiful, such a special place. The last stay was at the end of our honeymoon we even got a gift from the owners, very thoughtful gesture. Almost wish no one else knew about this little piece of heaven on earth."

"Great spot, great value and very friendly hosts. You feel like you are well out of town and are able to relax but can take a short trip into town for some extras in only a few minutes. The setting is gorgeous, will definitely be taking my family back again."

"If peace, beauty, nature and serenity is what you are after, then you can stop looking, because you cannot find any better than this! As we drove up to the log cabin, I told my husband that this is exactly what I have been looking for! The cabin is neat, and clean. It is equipped with everything that you could possibly need. The fact that there is no electricity and to make a cup of coffee you need to put a tin kettle on a gas stove plate, just adds to the charm and atmosphere. Sitting outside on the "stoep", watching out over the dam and the mountains was just breathtaking. The quiet of it all was just astounding and the different chirps and noises from the animals were fascinating. If you closed your eyes and listened carefully, you could hear the water in the mountains trickling away. We had the perfect balance of complete relaxation and fun. We used canoes provided and had a ton of fun rowing around the water. we also had a lovely walk into the mountain to go see the waterfall. Ina and Andrew were friendly and so helpful, and they gave us our privacy which is fantastic. You cannot fully describe in words how breathtakingly beautiful it is there. I don't want to tell people about this place. It's a diamond in the rough, So if you go there, please look after the place and don't ruin it. The weekend there was really as close to perfect as they can come. truly, I will recommend this beautiful place to anyone. And we cannot wait to go again."

"Had the most loveliest time at the Fazenda Log Cabins last weekend. The views were spectacular from every angle! We woke up to majestic mountains. Just below and connected to the cabin was a damn, fully equipped with canoes and a foofy slide. We had the options of hiking and see farm animals, all within walking distance. To the right of our cabin were rows after rows of magnificent vineyards. The cabins were super clean and furnished. We had a wonderful time cooking in the kitchen (they even had tupperware!). The toilets were fully stocked with clean towels and toilet papers. Showers were clean and so lovely. Bedrooms were stocked with extra clean blankets. Super impressed. The hosts were welcoming and absolutely friendly! I highly recommend Fazenda as one a great getaway destination."

"Feels like home away from home."

"This honestly was so well worth it. We booked both cabins and had a bunch of 11 people. Ina gave us extra mattresses and bedding and was just so welcoming and warm. The dam setting was beautiful! The morning fog setting on the dam with the sun's reflection. Of course 'foofy sliding' was amazing, the rafts were awesome. Spectacular hiking trail. It caters for everything. Braai, potjie pots, everything! We will definitely make this our once a year get together spot."

"I literally did not want to leave at the end of our holiday, the mountain view is breath taking and the accommodation was perfectly quaint and rustic with everything you need. I will definitely be returning, this is a new favourite spot."

"Fazenda is a true Western Cape gem. Set in a breathtakingly beautiful location, my friends and I booked out the two log cabins for a peaceful weekend away. The facilities were clean and organised, and provided us with everything we needed. Ina and Andrew were present but not overbearing, and gave us hints on where to go for walks, a must do when visiting. I will definitely be returning, and since having shared photos of the place on social networks, it seems so will all my friends."

"If I couldn't quite figure out before what I wanted from a getaway for escaping from the city life then Fazenda has done it for me. This was definitely one of the most outstanding places that we have visited. We loved the setting and the character of the cottage. We also appreciated the friendliness and hospitality of the owners. We look forward to returning."

"We really enjoyed our stay. It's a unique experience with nature. The nights were so peaceful with the sounds of frogs, crickets and bats. The hosts were very friendly. Hiking was an adventure and what a beautiful sight. The whole trip was so affordable. We definitely plan on coming back."

"A blissful three nights, unbeatable beauty and peace. Four of our family stayed in the lower cabin while the other three stayed in the top one. The only suggestion would be that maybe the lower cabin shower could be improved by a better shower head (with holes all over instead of just round the edge) and maybe something could be done about the fact that the water suddenly turns icy cold every 2 minutes or so, a nasty shock until you learn the trick of turning it off and on again each time." But this was a very small observation which didn't mar a totally idyllic stay - thank you so much, Andrew.

"We have been to Fazenda twice in the space of three months and will be back again as soon as possible. It is a magical place that you cannot help but fall in love with. The photos on the website do not capture the grandeur of the mountains in front of the cabins, the sound of the birds, and the sweet smells of the forest... you have to go there, take a deep breath and soak up the beauty around you. We walked up Hermitage Kloof to a beautiful mountain pool, where we swam under the watchful eyes of a curious troop of baboons. We drove into Swellendam (you'd never guess you are such a short distance from "civilisation") for wonderful coffee and cake at The Old Gaol coffee shop. We walked (and some of us mountain biked) in the gorgeous Marloth Nature Reserve which backs onto Fazenda. We went liqueur and jam tasting at Wildebraam, a short distance away, next time we'll do the tractor ride. We braaied on the deck, swam in the dam, played on the zipline. Fazenda, we will go back again and again, we are so glad to have discovered this little piece of paradise. We really recommend booking both cabins, as they are close together and make an ideal base for two families or two couples."

"We had the most amazing time at Fazenda Log Cabins this weekend past! Even though it was raining most of the time, their cozy interiors, patio braai area and beautifully majestic surrounding views of the mountains, forest and river made us feel immediately relaxed and we forgot all about our crazy noisy city lives. The trails up the mountains and across the river were stunning and the town of Swellendam itself was ripe with interesting history. Would recommend this place for couples and/or families wanting to get away for a relaxing and fun time. We absolutely cannot wait for our next visit to try the rafts and foofie slides."

"This was an excellent venue just to getaway from the busy city life, relax and enjoy the view. There is an awesome mountain view that looks like it's been taken straight out of a book (picture perfect). We went on a boys weekend and it was ideal as we booked both cabins and we didn't have to worry about any bothering other people or making too much noise. Thanks to Ina and Andrew for a good week-end, their assistance and their excellent hospitality. Even though it rained whole weekend it was still the ideal place with the ideal view. We were rained in from Sunday morning 09h00 and could only leave at 19h45 as the bridge was flooded. Ina and Andrew supplied us with food for this portion of the day, which was awesome hospitality and going the extra mile. I will definitely go back here with my family and the "boys" again."

"The setting is unbeatable - a place you do not wish to leave. The owners are wonderful people, extremely friendly and helpful."

"We had an absolutely wonderful two days at the Fazenda Cabins. The owners welcomed us with open arms. The views are breathtaking, you could simply sit on the deck all day and chill. For more active folks there are plenty of hiking opportunities as their farm borders the Marloth Nature Reserve. We hiked up the gorge and found plenty of magical waterfalls and pools where you can stop for a rest or a swim. We forgot to bring blitz but as we were surrounded by pine forests there were plenty of kindling around. The owners provided with an unlimited supply of braai wood which was great. We tried our hand at the foefie slide (zip line) which made us feel like kids again. All in all its magical spot hidden away for you to discover. You honestly feel like you are in Canada or somewhere in Switzerland in the mountains. We have already booked our next trip!"

"Great location! These two log cabins are situated on toes off a dramatic but beautiful mountain backdrop. My wife and I have done most of the scenic trails there but the walk up the kloof is one to remember. The stay was so relaxing that we will definitely go and visit again. I've already recommended Fazenda to family and friends."

"We had a wonderful weekend at the Fazenda cabins. Ive given it 5 stars on all the measures because it exceeded my expectation on all of it. I think we were lucky that the other cabin wasnt occupied so we had privacy for the whole weekend. The interior of the cabin was much better than I thought it would be; I loved it because its all-wood. The owners of the farm were very friendly people. The view of the mountain is awesome and walking up the kloof was a fun adventure. I hope to go back soon for another weekend."

"A tranquil getaway in the town of Swellendam. Fazenda is nestled in the mountains, with nothing but nature to take in. The cabins are situated on a dam, and the perfect getaway for those looking to break away from city life! The cabins have everything that you need to enjoy the stay. The breathtaking views is something one could get used to. Mom described it as a "Taste of Heaven on earth!" For those daring enough, there is a foofy slide and canoeing that can be done on the dam, and the best part of it is that its only the two cabins, so round up the crew and make a weekend of it. Thank you Ina for this amazing getaway, and your hospitality."

"What an amazing place to visit. We spent our nine year wedding anniversary here in November 2012. Wow, what a little gem, I would recommend this place to anyone - truly beautiful, thanks to the wonderful host for sharing there little gem with us! Waking up in the morning, taking a walk to waterfall. Definitely a place both my husband and I would love to visit again."

"An incredibly beautiful spot for complete and total relaxation. The cottages are basic but very well equipped and very comfortable and the view across the dam to the mountains is breathtakingly beautiful, particularly early morning. Well worth a visit!"

"We love coming to Fazenda and were treated to snow on the mountain, which was amazing. We were very snug in the cabin as there was plenty of extra blankets. We all enjoyed the hiking, fishing, braaing and wine tasting. Great great place to relax, many of our friends on Facebook have asked for Ina and Andrews contact details! Our number 1 spot when we go away."

"Fantastic getaway if you book both cottages, being pet friendly was a bonus. Enjoyed the foofie slide, tube and canoes that were provided. The only downfalls we found were, that if it got very cold there was no indoor fireplace, and we found due to the number of us that the wash up bowl was a bit small. In the event of rain there is no under cover cooking facilities bar a 2-plate gas cooker. Good quality linen, warm blankets and towels for showering are provided. In our opinion it is a 5 star summer holiday accommodation, which is close enough to Swellendam to get anything that you may have forgotten and the gravel roads are good."

"What a beautiful, absolutely amazing setting, experience and weekend! The cleanliness of the rooms, the facilities and the overall area was an absolute pleasure. We had a wonderful time with our dogs (who enjoyed it just as much!) and we will definitely be back again! Value for money is an understatement. Thank you Ina for a wonderful stay."

"A wonderful, breathtakingly beautiful setting matched by a warm welcome and excellent facilities. We will definitely be back again!"

"Bliss! A hidden gem that superseded all our expectations. Location, location, location. Fazenda has it all. It's with a heavy heart that I do this recommendation as I'd love to keep it a secret, romantic getaway for Shane and I. Well done Ina and Andrew! We'll be back :)"

"What a great weekend getaway! Just the missus, our Jack Russell and me for two blissful evenings of solitude. Thanks to Andrew and Ina for their great hospitality en facility. The walks in woods, tranquil setting, facilities nearby such as the Bontebok National Park and the biggest surprise... free firewood. We will be back, next time in the winter."

"Fazenda log cabins are awesome. Loved the peacefulness and tranquility of the place. Best place to recharge your batteries."

"We were a family of 8 and occupied both cabins, which we found very comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed the activities and hope to return soon. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly."

"Fazenda Log Cabins and surrounding area has a picturesque and timeless quality. With its beautiful scenery, be it overcast or clear blue skies. The stunning mountain trails and nearby dam keeps one active when one fancies to stretch your legs or go for a swim. The cabins with their solar power and 12-volt battery adds to the solitude of living in a forest. I highly recommend this out of city getaway for those who want less for more."

"We have now been twice in winter; once in 2010 when the weather was great and we had lovely walks and then this year we had foul weather but probably just what we needed after a few months of hard work. The rest and relaxation was great, rainy views of waterfall filled mountains were awesome. Now we will need to try summer :)"

"We stayed at Fazenda in May 2011. What a stunning spot! Totally relaxing. Great walks. Fun on the dam. Just a super couple of days that will live in my memory for many years to come. Loved this place! If I lived in the Cape, I'd be there often!"

"We've been wanting to book a weekend for ages and FINALLY got a chance to visit! What a stunning weekend!! The cottages are perfect! No electricity - what bliss, yet all the home comforts one needs. When Ina said that we only needed to bring food and clothes, she meant it. Many laughs were shared around the numerous braais and the kids had so much fun in the canoe on the dam. A relaxing, fun weekend for all! We will definitely be returning... hopefully very soon!"

"Fantastic place to just take a break and have some fun. Highlights: canoeing on the dam, "fishing" in the dam (real bait might do the trick), swimming in refreshing mountain pools, awesome scenery. Perfect opportunity for a bit of father and son bonding."

"What a fantastic getaway from the buzzing city life. If you are looking for peace & quiet, tranquility and sound/smell of nature then this is the place to go to and its just a few hours drive from Cape Town. Relax on the porch to watch either a sunrise/sunset, view the surrounding mountains, explore the hiking trails and take a dip in one of the mountain water streams... aaahh I can go on and on. Great spot and money well worth spent."

"Love this setting and will be back and back again!"

"We have been to the Fazenda log cabins two Decembers in a row - the first time only for three nights as we'd heard of the place via email and didn't know what to expect. Well, it was so much more than our wildest expectations that we have not stopped recommending it to others! We have been back for another 6 nights this past December and will most definitely be back many times more. Although only minutes from town, you are totally secluded from the world around you - so if you want a decent break away from your every day routine and the crazy rat race out there, this is definitely for you!"

"What a great holiday we had, only too short. Hiking, fishing, cycling, swimming in a rock pool or just sitting on the stoep watching the baboons go by! Fantastic log cabin, clean, cozy and dry in wet weather. The blackberries were delicious, we stocked up with antioxidants and re-charged the old batteries. We'll be back, as soon as Jo'burg lets us go!!"

"Exactly what I was looking for. The beauty of the mountains and the dam in this setting is amazing. Lots of birds, loved the short hikes into the mountains, picking berries, listening to the breeze through the trees. I will be back again! Gas and battery equipped - very comfy and romantic. Had there been a fireplace I would have moved in permanently!"

"This has just become one of my favourite places on earth. The view of the forest and mountain from the patio is awesome. We feasted on the best blackberries we've ever tasted. The kids had an absolute ball. The cabins are the perfect blend of rustic luxury and very clean and well equipped. Would love to go back tomorrow!"

"A truly AWESOME break-away from city life!! Wake up at the crack of dawn and watch the sun rise over the mountains from the deck of the log cabins surrounded by forest and farmlands... WOW!! We're definitely going back. The log cabins are so clean, neat and well equipped. The weekend was magical - thanks very very much Ina and Andrew for the great hospitality - see you soon."

"Mesmerising. By far the most picturesque place I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. An authentic log cabin experience with the mountains, the lake, the gas and the breathtaking night sky. A must-have experience for anyone looking for a getaway from the city. Will definitely return for some more. Thanks Andrew and Ina! :-)"

"Fantastic, we will be back, just a pity we haven't discovered you sooner. Breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, prolific bird life, an ideal place to recharge your tired batteries."

"Truly amazing. The scenery is so beautiful, and the rustic theme of the cabins are perfect to enjoy the setting, which is further complemented by the hospitality and professionalism of the hosts. No need for electricity when you've got moonlight and starry skies. Headed here a week before university exams, and it was the perfect escape."

"Perfect place to get away from it all and definitely perfect for a romantic getaway. We found the most wonderful rockpools. We could have stayed for days. Will definitely be back."

"We enjoyed it so much here (we spent Christmas and New years) that we had to come back with our friends. The kids loved it, and ran around from morning till night. The fishing was good! The highlight of the weekend was when Ina and Andrew (the hosts) explained to us were you can find a magical mountain stream pool to swim in. We loved it! We will be back in April."

"We loved this place so much that we decided to come back (We were there in December), as usual the most amazing relaxing getaway !! We found a lovely pool in a mountain stream in the nature reserve where the kids swim all day love. We will be back, thanks Ina and Andrew for always being great hosts."

"Will definitely go back soon :-)"

"What a beautiful getaway! It was amazing - a little piece of heaven nestled in a valley with beautiful views! Ina and Andrew were lovely hosts and we would definitely love to visit again!"

"This is a wonderful place to just relax and forget about the hustle and bustle of the city; our kids loved it (age 9 and 11), we loved it. So much to do, so much to see, Ina and Andrew are just such great hosts. We will be back!"
