Meijer's Rust is a working farm offering a variety of units, just outside the peaceful village of De Rust. Surrounded by the Swartberg Mountains, there's fynbos, waterfalls, hiking, and Karoo chill-time.
All the chalets are comfortable, fully equipped, and self-catering, each with a queen size bed. The Milk Barn cottage is a fully equipped, self-catering, two roomed cottage sleeping four. The main bedroom has a double bed and the open plan living area has stacked bunk beds ideal for children. Stone cottage is located on a plateau above Meiringspoort, a good option for a little bit of romance. This unit is accessible to vehicles with high clearance, and a good starting point for hiking trails.
The campsites are on the lower farm, accessible by normal vehicle, with a decent ablution block, two showers, toilets and basins and wash up area. Each stand has an electrical point, light and braai pit.
To make the most of your stay, you could check out Meiringspoort with cliff walls and great rock formations along the 25km tarred road which winds along the floor of the gorge, crossing the Groot River a mamoth 25 times. If you're feeling up for it, you can take a walk up to the waterfall, well hidden in the deep ravine, and visited in 1925 by the then Prince of Wales. The water drops 60m into a deep pool. Legend has it that a mermaid hides here, but we'll leave it up to you to find her.
There's also the Cango Caves in the area, a little drive but not too far, and worth visiting if you haven't been before.
