Topping a small hill in the beautiful Manley Flats valley (20km from Grahamstown), Bon Tempo is a creative eco-farm with two comfy cottages built largely from recycled materials.
Out In Africa and Villa Sunset sleep five and three, respectively. Both are privately appointed, both have open-plan interiors and mountain views, and both incorporate oodles of funky decor.
Out in Africa features a double bed, single and bunk beds, while Villa Sunset has a double bed and one single. Each has a bathroom with shower. Tea and coffee-making facilities are provided, as are linen and towels.
Hostess Claudia offers great meals and breakfasts in the communal dining area.
Adding to Bon Tempo's arty vibe is the Phallo's Art Exhibition and Priapic Garden.
For the South African in you, there are farm walks, great birding and even a chance to spot small game. Bon Tempo itself is surrounded by game farms, so you might even spot something a bit bigger through the fence.
