An intimate private game reserve tucked away on the edge of the Bushmans Gorge, in an almost forgotten corner of the Eastern Cape, this is a getaway where you'll slip right into chill mode.
Thirty kays from the City of Saints (direction East London), central to Bushmans Gorge is its thatch lodge. Built on a rocky outcrop with sweeping views across the valley, the lodge sports six twin rooms, all with private en-suite bathrooms and crisp percale linen.
Upping your enjoyment is a cosy living area with fireplace, an entertainment room with pool table and DSTV, a kitchen (should you wish to self-cater), a bar where you can knock back a cold one as the sun dips, a swimming pool for summer, and a private braai deck for that waiting chop in the coolbag.
Lying slapbang in a natural playground, your hosts offer a range of excursions. These include day or night game drives, abseiling, walks, viewing of bushman paintings, as well as river fishing in season.
