Budget Getaways Review

Beautifully appointed and privately positioned adjacent to the main farmhouse and outbuildings on a working fruit farm near Citrusdal (13km away), Die Buitekamer is ideal for couples looking for a comfortable and stylish base from which to explore the area.

This open plan cottage is tastefully decorated in light and modern finishes, with quality furnishings and plenty in the way of attention to detail.

The cottage is set alongside a swimming pool (much needed in the summer months), with a terraced patio leading down to the poolside. The patio has some outdoor seating and a built in braai place, not to mention soothing views out over the orchards and mountains beyond. Outdoor living is certainly easy going here.

Indoors, the open plan layout combined with contemporary finishes makes for a cozy space. Towards the back of the cottage you’ve got the queen bed, made up with percale linen. The bathroom with loo, shower and basin leads off from here and includes towels.

The kitchen is equipped with everything you’d need for self-catering, including complimentary tea, coffee, rusks and farm fresh milk. Living space comes in the form of a comfortable sofa and coffee table, positioned to gaze out of the sliding door onto the pool. Nice!

As far as activity on the farm goes, there are a number of strolls which one can take around the orchards and farmlands or venture out and explore the nearby passes and trails by car or bike. There’s also Citrusdal itself, it’s organic market and museum are well worth a wander around.

A great looking getaway, well priced and certainly set to be a winner.
