Budget Getaways Review
Set within the leafy suburb of Walmer, a historic and posh area of Port Elizabeth, Forest Hall offers a convenient and very comfortable oasis en route to the Eastern Cape's big names: Addo, Hogsback and the Wild Coast.
Ranked right up there on Tripadvisor, the guest feedback - 112 reviews and counting - is consistent and impressive. “A beautiful, peaceful setting and warm hospitality. Our room was more than we expected.” “Our stay was really great and our host's attention to detail in the three rooms we occupied, was outstanding. Great experience.” "Our favourite. The very best in PE." "Outstanding location and service." And so on, and so on...
Examining Forest Hall's nuts and bolts, central to the property is a gorgeous old Victorian home nestled in a fairytale garden setting with rolling expanses of lawn, a swimming pool and plenty of large trees.
There are six Luxury and four Standard rooms opening onto the garden - with self-catering available in some. The luxury rooms are open-plan and come with king-sized or twin options, with a sleeper couch or extra beds available on request.
All have en-suite bathrooms with free-standing oval baths, spacious showers, fridge, micro, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. You’ll also find DSTV and a DVD player.
The Standard rooms have double beds with en-suite shower and loo, and the option of a sleeper couch if required. As with the luxury rooms, you’ll find a fridge, microwave, tea and coffee making facilities and DSTV.
Ideal for those with things to do, places to go, is Forest Hall’s breakfast (optional), served in full English style in the breakfast room, where dinner can also be requested.
Don’t fret about your overloaded wagon - there’s ample secure off-street parking behind the automated gates.
With attention to detail, rolling garden setting and convenient location within easy reach of Port Elizabeth’s beachfront, restaurants and aqua attractions, we reckon there's little need to look much further than Forest Hall if it's a top-drawer overnight stop you're looking for.
"This is such a relaxing environment and a beautiful setting. The rooms and service are high quality. The food was delicious and the owners are so friendly and accommodating. I would definitely return!"

"James and Hilary run a first class establishment. They go out of their way to help their guests with whatever request they may have. Each room has an individual feel to it, with an interesting theme to the interior design. The rooms are very well equipped and comfortable."
