Now here’s a stylish and cosy little cottage tailormade for a family jaunt to Simon’s Town.

Tucked into a rambling fynbos garden above the harbour, Harbour Heights lives up to the name. From these cosy quarters, you’ve got the most gobsmacking views over False Bay and beyond.

The cottage shares space with your friendly host’s home, yet offers ample privacy, with the occasional visit from the resident hounds.

Taking a closer look at the wider picture, there's no short supply of wow factor. Apart from those eye-bending ocean and mountain views, the cottage is decorated in a relaxed and homely style, with a timber deck and outdoor shower backed by fynbos.

Indoors, you’ve got a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower, while the living room has a double sleeper couch for the kids - a cot and single sofa bed can also be provided.

The living area is open-plan to a fully equipped kitchen, four-seater dining table and an exit via double doors to the deck and braai area.

All towels (beach and bath) are provided, you’ve got DSTV and a DVD player in the living room, and the cabby is safely tucked away, courtesy of off-street parking.

With a platter of village action just down the road (museums, galleries, restaurants, kayaking, sailing, diving, submarine tours), getting out and about is an easy doddle.

So, if you’ve up for a trip down to the Mother City, or an escape from the CBD grime, heed the words of a recent guest from Toronto: “WOW! What a view. This is one of my favourite getaways.”

"WOW! What a view. This is one of my favourite getaways. Enjoy breakfast on the sunny patio or enjoy a sundowner watching the ships in the harbour. Perfect for a solo getaway or for two. Great wifi if you want a working holiday. Steps from Simon's Town, penguins and great restaurants. Special touch that the photos in the suite are taken by the hosts!"
