This newly-renovated farmhouse sits about 150m from its smaller sibling, Old Sam's Cottage, which is a better bet for couples sans children.
Jack's is a simple and neat farmhouse sleeping up to eight jolly weekenders in a mix of double and twin bedrooms.
Bonus here is that the house sits in a fenced camp grazed by resident eland, kudu and springbok. Canned game watching, or what?
The kitchen is well equipped and the living and dining area open and light. However, you're likely to spend more time outside, turning a chop to the tune of starry skies.
In winter, the indoor fireplace is a sure-fire winner. A bottle of OBS, the well-worn Pictionary... away you go.
Four hundred hectares of farm to explore, a circular mountain bike trail, a canoe for your private use on the nearby Karsrivier, Bredasdorp just 10km away (a few decent restaurants and an interesting museum), Arniston and its coastline within easy striking distance, you'll want for nothing.
