Budget Getaways Review
Be it a wedding, family gathering or just a general jol, accommodation in Stellenbosch is always at a premium. That was until this budget conscious option located on the Mt Simon Estate (and home to the Stellenbosch Rugby Academy), came along.
Now, you don’t have to kick like Naas, or even don your musty Springbok jersey to enjoy a night or two at one of the 19 self-catering cottages. No boet, here you can just chill with a cold one, gooi a chop on the braai, and gaze out over those fields… All at a very digestible price tag.
Taking a look at the units themselves, all are modern, compact and no frills. The smaller units sleep four guests and have two bedrooms. The larger units sleep up to eight and have four double or twin rooms.
Common to all is a lounge and fully equipped open-plan kitchen decked with fridge, microwave, stove and washing machine.
The living areas have selected DSTV channels, and the patios come with a braai. All linen is provided, but you’ll need to bring your own towels.
For communal use, you’ve got a games room with table tennis and pool table, as well as a swimming pool.
As a useful overnight base with oodles of secure parking, and within easy reach of Stellies CBD, this is one to keep on your radar next time you're in need of a basic bed in the area.
