Not only do these two charming farmstyle cottages come with gobsmacking views of Champagne Castle, Cathkin Peak and Sterkhorn, they also offer that nestle-in cosiness of a garden setting shaded by 150-year-old trees.
Guinea Fowl and Ferndale both sleep four, with a double and twin room in each (with shared bathroom). Both are privately appointed and fronted by covered verandas (with Weber) and an expanse of lawn.
Also common to both is an open-plan living and dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and a fireplace to fend off that icy Berg winter chill.
Within easy reach of a number of Drakensberg activities - horse riding, golf, mountain climbing, hiking and zip-lining to name but a few - the location is pretty close to ideal.
What's more, with prior arrangement, Fido is welcome to come along for the ride.

"We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Ponds, the people were very friendly on the property (and so were the doggies) and it was very private and just quaint. It was so relaxing and close to all the other hotel resorts, and walks which made it very easy to get around. The cottage itself is perfect for 4 people to stay, very comfortable beds and spacious inside. The cottage is Incredibly well furnished and equipped with everything one needs in the kitchen. The only negative would be all the bugs in the house, but if you staying in the Drakensberg, I guess that's expected."
