Budget Getaways Review
Surrounded by fynbos vegetation on a gorgeous farm, 15km from Stanford, Zuurknolsvlei is an Overberg gem waiting for just the two of you, your family or even a bunch of friends to head on over to and enjoy.
Accommodation options come in the form of the main farmhouse with a further three semi-detached units, situated about 30 meters away.
Taking a look at the farmhouse, this double storey abode can pack a total of 11 guests, with three double bedrooms on ground level and another double bed and three singles in a loft room upstairs. There are two shared bathrooms available. The living and dining area are downstairs, have a central fireplace for winter, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. You’ve also got a great covered patio with built-in braai, extended wooden deck and a hot tub, not to mention those soothing rural views.
Moving along to the three semi-detached units, these open-plan units sleep two and have their own private entrances, patios and braais. The units are tastefully decorated and have double beds, a bathroom with shower, loo and hand basin and equipped kitchenettes with fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster in each.
Common to both the farmhouse and the three units is free wifi, quality linen and towels.
The area has plenty on offer in terms of activities. Wine farms are located nearby, a well-known cheese farm makes for a good outing as well as the towns of Hermanus, Gansbaai and Stanford, which are all within easy reach. From the farm there are a number of mountain biking and hiking options which are easy to access.
Great for a group, a few couples or families looking for a Overberg base, Zuurknolsvlei is a neat and tidy looking getaway, waiting for your next weekend jaunt.

"We had a peaceful and lovely breakaway at Zuurknolsvlei's Farmhouse. We were 6 friends looking to get away from the city. We were welcomed by the owner, Marlene, who was very warm and friendly. The farmhouse has a large stoep and a braai area with a serene view from the stoep, which is where we spent most of our time. The house was clean and fully equipped - we needed nothing else really. We will definitely return again."

"We loved the time spent at Zuurknolsvlei! The farmhouse is beautiful. It is evident that our host, Marlene, and her husband took a lot of care during the renovation. The double bedrooms were elegant, with good quality linen. The loft room is ideal for kids. The kitchen is well equipped, including a huge gas stove! The main attraction is the huge, �kuier stoep�, with the large, open fireplace and smaller closed combustion fireplace. This is where we spent our evenings, young and old. This a true gem, and we will definitely be back in the future. Almost forgot, you can purchase the most divine homemade marmalade, jams, and honey from Marlene! Highly recommend this establishment!"
