Tucked away in the Uilenkraal Valley, not too far from Gansbaai (15km), Berg n Dal Heritage Farm lies slapbang in the middle of outdoor Nirvana. It's a place where you can either roll out of bed and head straight into the mountain, or simply kick back and savour your stylish abode and elegant surrounds.

To enjoy the setting to the max, there are three tastefully decorated cottages with catchy names: Space, Cozy and Intimate. 

First up, Space - a standalone unit fronted by sprawling lawns, trees, and a swing. Inside, you have a King and twin bedroom (shared bathroom), with a living room (with fireplace) and open-plan kitchen (with wood-burning stove) at the center. You’ve also got a covered patio and braai area. Lovely one if you have the kids in tow.  

Although directly adjoined, Cozy and Intimate have private entrances and their own outdoor areas. They are located closer to the main all-thatch-and whitewash farmhouse, and can either be booked separately or as one - achieved via an interleading door between the two.

The above units sleeps two apiece; Cozy sports a separate bedroom with Queen bed, while Intimate features an open-plan layout. Both have equipped kitchenettes, bathrooms with showers, and separate outdoor braai areas. Best wethinks for single group of four. 

There is free WiFi at all three cottages.

Apart from the farm walks, bike rides and fynbos hills to explore, Berg n Dal is only a 15-minute drive to Gansbaai, Walker Bay and Franskraal. Closer to home, there are also apparently some great little eateries and special nooks to explore in the Uilenkraal Valley - we'll leave your host to tell you more about these.

For couples (childless or other), families, or small groups, Berg en Dal makes for an easy escape from the Mother City, with great accommodation, a pretty setting, and plenty to do in the area. We think you'll love it.
