Budget Getaways Review

As the old real estate saying goes, "location, location!" This couldn’t be closer to the truth than at Bonamanzi Adventures. What we’ve got here folks, is a campsite just made for an en-masse camping weekend of note! Booked exclusively, meaning it’s only you and your crowd that get to stay here. (If you're not up for camping, there's also the option of the lodge at Bonamanzi, find out more here.)

Rolling lawns, spilling down to the water’s edge, shaded camp areas to pitch your tent (or hire one of ours) and a general laid back and easy going vibe make Bonamanzi practically idyllic.

Digging deeper, the facilities themselves comprise a spacious, fully-equipped communal kitchen, which is kitted out with fridge, freezer and gas hob and opens out onto a shaded seating area.

But hey, in a spot like this, you’re likely to be making use of the braai lapa, chops sizzling on the grid, beer in hand and the kids “baljaaring” in the plunge pool. The pool itself is in the centre of a massive lawn, the vastness just calling out for those late afternoon cricket games.

Ablutions come in the form of flush loo’s and hot showers, so fear not, no long drops to contend with here.

The camp area is set to the side of the large lawn and is well shaded, with plenty of flat places to pitch your tent. (There are no demarcated sites, you just choose your preferred spot).

Extras available (at cost): Tents to hire, cleaning services (for both during and after your stay), use of electricity points near to your tent, firewood and canoe hire are all available on request. Well-behaved pets can also join the party, if you’re wanting to bring Fido along, but please request this when booking.

As far as activities go, the river is the primary focus here. Swim, fish, canoe or take a stroll along the river’s edge and do a spot of birding.

As a fun-filled, easy going, summer group camping destination, you’d go a long way to beat Bonamanzi.
