Perfectly placed along the lawned banks of the Nuwejaars River, and set within the wider Nuwejaars Nature Reserve, Haze Vlakte Farm offers three gorgeous, semi-detached units and a separate farm cottage, all ideal for families or couples.

With canoes and fishing rods for hire, lush lawns leading down to the water's edge, and oodles of space to laze about, it’s little wonder the guest feedback reads like this: ”What an amazing place! If you are looking for peace and tranquility then this is the place to visit.”

The scene set, let's check out the accommodation. As far as the three semi-detached units go, each sleeps four guests in total, in a mixed configuration of a double bedroom, and twin or bunk beds in the living area. One unit has an ensuite bathroom and an additional shared bathroom, while the other two come with shared bathroom - all with shower only. The living areas are spacious and modern, with a dining table, couches and open-plan kitchen with breakfast counter. Throw open your sliding doors and you're on the patio, with built-in braai area. The patios spill onto the lawn leading down to the river. Braai lit and red wine flowing, a great place to catch the evening glow.

Moving along to River Cottage, this newly renovated farm cottage is a cozy option for those wishing for that extra bit of privacy. Situated near to the river (not suitable for toddlers), the cottage has two bedrooms, a double which is ensuite and a twin bedroom. There is a spare bathroom with shower and loo. The living area is open plan to a small, well equipped kitchen. There is a lovely covered stoep with braai area, as well as an indoor braai/fireplace for the winter months.

If you can drag yourself from your accommodation, there's canoeing, fishing, swimming and general wallowing to be had in the river.

Less than five kays down the road you’ve got the popular Black Oyster Catcher Restaurant, as well as Struisbaai and Arniston just a short drive away. There are also biking and hiking trails within the Nuwejaarsrivier Nature Reserve.
