Budget Getaways Review
The River Kaya offers self-catering accommodation situated right on the Kromme River, just 12 km from St Francis Bay, one of the top holiday destinations on the beautiful Garden Route. River Kaya is situated next to the beautiful tidal Kromme River, approximately 8km from the river mouth at St Francis Bay.
River Kaya has three separate accommodation options. The Fish Eagle self-catering house with room for 9 guests, The Woodpeckers Shack (Backpackers style) with room for 24 guests in total and The Kiewiet with room for 6 guests. The property is ideal for a bigger group getaway, a special birthday or whatever the occasion you happen to be celebrating.
The Kromme River is navigable for 8 kilometres and is a favourite among fishermen and boating enthusiasts. Explore the river through many of the popular boating activity; river cruise, kayak, canoe… and not forgetting to bring the fishing rods as the waters are home to Cob, Garrick, Grunter, Steenbras, Shad and Flathead. During low tide fantastic pools are created idea for windsurfing or leisurely sunbathing and swimming.
If you're a golf fan, then you're in luck! Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the challenging St Francis Links Course is characterised by undulating terrain, greens and variation in length and direction. The consistent layout combines every element of shot making. The bunkers define the quality and character of this course, looking as if they have been ploughed out of the ground.
The Kromme River Mouth is an excellent kite surfing spot. Consistent good wind and surf make this a very popular spot for kite surfing and surfing.
There's some shops in the town for all your basic needs, and some locally made fresh produce too.
Grab your gold clubs, kite-board, or just your swimming towel, and head for the coast!
