Straddling a plateau above Wilderness and the Kaaimans River gorge, Woodifield farm is easily accessible via the very pretty old Seven Passes Road just a few miles outside George.

This working cattle farm offers a mix of indigenous forest and pine plantation crisscrossed with 20km of private hiking and mountain biking trails, plus two farm dams for a spot of fishing. In other words, just the place for skitterish activity junkies and chill seekers alike.  

Further afield, you’re within easy reach of the serpentined lakes and beach at Wilderness, the Saturday Market at Sedgefield and, if all else fails... George Mall.

Examining the two accommodation options at Woodifield, what we have here is a rustic and relaxed farm cottage sleeping a total of eight, plus a nicely converted stable blocks, which also sleeps eight.

Kicking off with The Cottage, this unit offers a private garden with large lawned area and views over the pine plantation and distant Outeniqua peaks punching the skyline.

Bed-wise, you’ve got two bedrooms with king beds, a queen room and lastly a twin bedroom. The mail bedroom is ensuite, while the others share a bathroom. 

The kitchen is fully equipped and typical of farm houses from this era. The living area has a fireplace, while outside you’ve got a patio and braai lapa, which can be stocked with firewood on request.

Moving along to The Stables, as the name suggests, this converted stable block has four double bedrooms and two shared bathrooms. The living area is spacious and comfortable and spills out onto a patio and braai area. 

There's a fully equipped kitchen and a fireplace in the living room to keep things cozy in winter.

The initial guest feedback for Woodifield paints a decent picture: “The setting is amazing, the views are picturesque. The owners are so welcoming and friendly. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there.”

So, whether it’s a bunch of you on a jaunt through the Garden Route or a family needing to unleash the kids, then Woodifield Farm could well be for you - simple, easy-going and well-appointed.
