Budget Getaways Review
A large working Overberg farm is the setting for Oorvloed Farmhouse. It’s big sky country here with swathes of wheat and canola fields and wide open spaces. The farm slopes gently down to the banks of the Breede River.
Taking a look at the house itself, you’ve got an easy-going and spacious setup here, a great option for a family or two, possibly even a group of friends sharing. The house sleeps eight in total, with one queen room, a double and two twin bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. All towels and linen are provided.
The lounge and dining area are kept cozy in winter with a great indoor braai, ready and waiting for you to use. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering and there is an outdoor braai area and lawned garden in front of the house. Oh, and if you have to connect, there’s free WiFi.
Keeping busy on the farm focusses around the river, with fishing, swimming and canoeing all on tap (there are two kayaks supplied). There are plenty of mountain biking and walking options on the farm as well. Further afield there’s Malgas and Swellendam roughly the same distance away.
A great option for your next Overberg outing, and with all this space you may as well bring the whole family, in-laws and neighbours as well. Like the name suggests, this getaway can handle the ‘oorvloed”.
