Nestled away in an unspoilt conservancy, within a short stroll to the nearby beach at Boggomsbaai, Sandpiper Cottages consists of two large cottages and three smaller eco cabins - each option being the perfect retreat for a family holiday, getaway with a bunch of friends or just the two of you looking for a jaunt along the Southern Cape coast.
First up, let’s take a look at the two larger units, namely Strandloper and Mosselkraker. Strandloper is a 10 sleeper house, made up of a cottage and a separate annex. The cottage has three loft bedrooms, two of which are ensuite, plus an additional bathroom on ground level. The annex is made up of an ensuite loft room above the double garage. The house has a cozy living / dining area with fireplace and an outside braai area which spills out onto the garden.
Mosselkraker is a similar setup, slightly smaller with two loft bedrooms (a double and a twin). Sleeping four in total, the house has two bathrooms, a cozy living area with fireplace and an outdoor braai area and garden. Common to both are quality linen, wifi and TV with Netflix.
Moving along to the smaller “cabins”, Skuilhoek is a long loft apartment above some garages. Packed with character, this thatch loft is stylishly furnished and equipped to sleep four. (two singles and a double). There is a kitchenette, lounge and outdoor braai facility down on ground level. There’s a great sea view from the loft windows.
Both Pondokkie and Kaia are free-standing cottages set amidst natural vegetation and offer plenty in the way of privacy. Pondokkie is a character cottage sleeping 4-6 guests - there are two double rooms and a double bed in the living area. The cottage is solar powered and includes an equipped kitchen, comfy living area and a large circular braai boma.
Kaia, ideal for couples, super private and sleeping two, this is also an off-grid setup, tastefully furnished with indoor braai area, ensuite bathroom, a patio with distant sea views. Worth noting is that Kaia has no fridge, but does have an ice-box.
An added bonus here is that in the reserve you have use of the leisure centre, that being made up of a small restaurant, a tennis court, gym and even a squash court. Otherwise hit the road on your bike, head out for a run or take a drive and explore Mossel Bay or the surrounding area.
Well appointed, close to the coast and with great facilities to boot, this one looks to be a winner getaway!
