Budget Getaways Review
It all started on a working grain farm in the spectacular Amphitheater valley - an abandoned grain silo was given a lick of paint, fitted with a pizza oven and fired up. The rest is history.
Not only does Tower of Pizza produce one of the Berg’s finest calzones, it also offers a tasty platter of farm accommodation and a desert menu of local activities.
The accommodation (B&B optional) comes in the form of seven well-appointed thatch rondavels and two lovely three-sleeper cottages.
With three- and four-sleeper options, the rondavels are situated alongside each other, with a stretch of open lawn to the front. Among the features: open-plan bedrooms with double and twin beds, towels, linen and tea and coffee making goodies, and soothing mountain views.
The two cottages are set next to each other and some way from the rondavels. Both have double beds, with an extra single if needed. As with the rondavels, they’re fully equipped (including fireplaces) and have gorgeous mountain views from the patio.
Besides nipping over to the restaurant for yet another pizza, the activity list is brimming with possibility, both on the farm and at Royal National (only 10 kays away). Abseiling, tubing, 4x4 trails, mountain biking, farm walks, fishing, horse riding, it's all possible.
Extra toppings galore, on a nice crispy base, Tower of Pizza could be a must-do on your next Drakensberg road trip.
"Nice and quiet place, with good restaurant."

"Stayed for 2 nights at Tower of Pizza. Very nice little 2 sleeper cottage, clean, well-appointed, and perfect for a quiet getaway. Very friendly staff (and owner) and a very good breakfast to get the day started. Close to the Royal Natal Park with all its hiking and biking trails. All in all, a good experience and we will return."

"Very nice and spacious cottage. Very calm and nice view. Very near the national parks. We would definitely come here again. "

"We had a wonderful stay at the Tower of Pizza, we stayed in a rondavel and had a view of the neighbouring farm. What you get is a wonderful bed, the room is furnished beautifully and everything is clean and in its place. The room has a table as well as fridge for keeping snacks and lunch. Breakfast is superb and the pizza restaurant is not to be missed. In the area you are close to Royal Natal National Park and All Out Adventures."
