Budget Getaways Review

Brambleberry Farm is a newish addition on the Budget Getaway map - a relaxed farm B&B getaway just 10km outside Riebeek-Kasteel and it's sleepy sibling, Riebeek West.

Jo and Bruce are your gracious hosts and keen to share their "bit of paradise" with couples looking to trade in a week of city stress with a weekend of birdsong, stunning sunsets, fresh mountain air, village vibe and great restaurants.

In your host's main house you'll find Rob's Room and the Rooster Room - both spacious and comfy and with their own private bathrooms and shared use of the lounge and kitchen.

Downstairs, Duck Pond End and Zimbini Room make up the balance of accommodation. Each comes with double bed (and an extra single in Zimbini) and lots of charm. They also have a private lounge and shared terrace.

Heading outside, you have a choice of balcony, tented back stoep, a jetty over the duck pond and a braai area - all come fitted with soothing views and are best enjoyed with a glass of local wine.

Popping into the village for breakfast or lunch, quaffing fine plonk wine at the surrounding estates, mountain biking, morning and evening strolls, a braai at the stream, swimming in the dam, this is part and parcel of your weekend stay.

Toss the iPad, pack your airport paperback and favourite partner, and make your way across to Brambleberry Farm.
