Budget Getaways Review
You’ll find this sparkling two-bedroomed apartment along a palm-lined avenue called Golden Mile Boulevard, in Britannia Bay. Although technically on the beach, the whale’s share of sea-view is taken up by your host’s house. This is not a train smash as the sound of crashing ocean is immediate and a mere 30m or so separates you from the soft sands of the real thing.
Britannia Beach is light and airy and meets exacting standards of order and cleanliness, broken here and there by gentle touches. The pitched ceiling is criss-crossed by a series of white beams that create an appealing beach house ambience, and the apartment is neatly decked out in grey floor tiles, delicate blue walls and uncluttered modern fittings. Colour co-ordinated chair-covers, the occasional out-of-Africa adornment and matching panels of duck-egg blue all add up to a relaxed karma befitting a weekend at the sea.
Luxury takes the form of DSTV, free WiFi on request, good linen and towels and a spacious sundeck yielding a wedge of ocean view and the opportunity to braai and suntan sheltered from the wind.
Factoring in the setting and uncomplicated interior, Britannia Beach is not only a good base to the surrounding region but is also a useful summer escape for frazzled urbanites. It is conducive to doing blissfully little. Surround yourself with a pile of trashy novels and just chill. Get up from time to time and stroll the picturesque beach, looking out for whales, dolphins and a cormorant or two along the way.
Finally, end your day off with a fine bottle of wine and an evening braai on the deck, followed by a nightcap before drifting off...
"A tranquil weekend with long walks along the beach, just what is needed to get away from the stresses of life. Our accommodation was perfect with all the bits and bobs needed."

"What a beautiful establishment situated on the edge of the beach. It was just me and my wife but the apartment can easily accommodate a family of four or two couples. We received a worm welcome from Anne, everything was neat and tidy, the apartment is well equipped and the braai area is the star of the show. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful establishment with us, we will definitely visit again."

"We were very impressed when we arrived at our accommodation. We received a big warm welcome from Anne the owner. The place is equipped with everything we needed. Beach is a minute away and my baby boy loved it. We were questioned by friends and family on where we got this beautiful accommodation and all we said was go to Budget Getaways, they have the best you can find on low cost. We all needed a break away from busy life and loved our time at Britannia."

"My family and I had an awesome time, we were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. We stayed for seven days and it was amazing. The breeze and also learning a very valuable lesson of water. We shouldn't take water for granted we used it sparingly. Luckily my family is not fussy and we can make do with what is given to us which showed me that we can survive any crisis."

"My husband, my 20 month old daughter and I had a wonderful stay at the Britannia Beach Self-catering accommodation. It had everything we needed including the very short walk to the beach, which was stunning. We would recommend staying here. Barry and Anne were very welcoming and friendly."

"A lovely flatlet with a nice braai area . It is practically on the beach, although nice and quiet. The only downside was that there is no sport channel."

"When we arrived we received a warm welcome from the owners who made us feel relaxed and welcomed. The accommodation was even more than what we expected, as we were travelling with our 2 year old who's birthday we were celebrating. The accommodation was amazing the scenery was the best. We had such a great time that we want to plan another trip with more relatives to this accommodation. Thank you Anne and Barry you guys rocked. Megan and Michael Arends"

"Our warm and friendly hosts could not have been more accommodating. Decor is in cool shades of duck egg blue & white with splashes of vibrant lime green towels. The elevated accommodation is very clean, neat and well maintained. The fresh crisp bed linen was lovely and every comfort from home was supplied, down to the steam iron. A huge private patio deck with built in braai is all yours to enjoy and has a view of the sea. A relaxing time was spent with lovely walks on the beach which is right on your doorstep. Perfect for the destination wedding venue, Sea Trader. Grocery shopping is a short drive away and the gorgeous Bon Hotel very close by, offering golf, restaurant and spa facilities. We will be back soon."

"If you want to relax and have some quiet time, this is the place for you!! From the moment you get out of your vehicle, you're surrounded by this feeling of calmness and relaxation. The best thing about this getaway is the long, safe beach to walk on. Amazing sunsets and the calming sound of the waves on the beach, completes this beautiful picture. Barry and Anne are GREAT hosts and very friendly. The best place to relax and enjoy nature."

"We have been coming here at least annually for several years and keep on coming back for more. The description on the website is very accurate. Even though we often come with plans, we tend to park our car upon arrival and start it again for departure - the setting and the beach are just too relaxing..:-). Thanks to Anne and Barrie for sharing this gem of a place with guests!"

"A very good break. The main house does spoil the view a lot, but then again the beach is so close that to walk to it to get a better view is not that bad. The people in the area are very warm and friendly. Great value for money. A 'must visit again'."
