Budget Getaways Review
Set on the slopes of the rugged Gourits River Valley, 46km inland from Mossel Bay (40km from Stilbaai, and 16km from Albertinia), with a direct vista over the water, here’s a homespun outdoor getaway.
Diving straight into the accommodation, you’ve got both hard and soft options here. For those among you who prize comfort above rugged appeal, the three bedroom farmhouse offers a spacious and comfortable abode for a large family or group of six weekenders.
What to expect? Gorgeous views onto the river (20m away), a lovely living area opening out onto a wooden deck with braai and lapa, a fully equipped kitchen and dining room, and easy access to the farm’s swimming pool.
For the diehard campers fixated on the idea of canvas and pegs, the six campsites will hit the spot. Accommodating six apiece, the stands are set away from the farmhouse and close to the river's edge.
Ablutions are communal and come with hot showers, basins and toilets. The stands are suitable for caravans and 4x4’s met huisie of tent bo. Again, there's access to the swimming pool.
Meals are also available on request. These are dished up at the main house.
The to-do list? Plenty. Hiking and bike routes, canoeing (depending on the water level) and fishing. Further afield, you’ve got Stilbaai (40km) and the surrounding coastline to explore.
Lekker option for a family adventure in a rugged and unspoilt valley with a river running through it.
