Budget Getaways Review
Izintaba Private Game Reserve has become synonomous with luxury and leisure - if at all in doubt, scan a few of the guest comments that have come our way.
Izintaba can be found on a private game farm at the foot of the Waterberg mountains - an easy 3-hour drive from Jozi. We're told the final 17 kays of the journey does involve a temperamental dirt road, so best call ahead if you're worried about your new chariot.
Accommodation comes in the form of six plush units. First up we have Bushbuck Cottage and Zebra Cottage. Both sleep four in two ensuite rooms. Zebra Cottage also has a loft that can sleep two - a good choice for your adventurous young 'uns.
Kudu Cottage is an eight-sleeper double-storey thatch cottage with its very own private plunge pool and views of the mountains beyond.
Giraffe Cottage packs up to 10 guests across three bedrooms and a loft with four extra single beds. Centered around the open-plan living and dining area and spacious kitchen, Giraffe is your go-to for that overdue family kuier.
If you want to experience the tranquility of the bushveld in all its glory, Duiker Cottage is a treat. It's got two rooms and a shared bathroom, as well as gorgeouss views from every angle.
And then, the headlining act, Izintaba Lodge. With own swimming pool, bar and pool table, and enough space for a dozen weekenders, you can't go wrong with this one. The open-plan living and dining areas lead off from the restaurant-sized kitchen - complete with double door fridge/freezer, two stoves, a dishwasher, and a dining table big enough for the extended clan.
If you can bear to tear yourself away from your nest, you can enjoy a dip in the guest pool, a guided game drive, birdwatching, leisurely walks, runs or bike rides through the farm.
Nice one. Don't miss it!
"We have stayed at Izintaba over five times over the last five years. We have also just confirmed our second weekend for 2016. This has become our go-to bushveld breakaway. We have visited other places, but always return to Izintaba. What we find so appealing is the extremely well equipped cottages, complete with fluffy white duvets and mosquito nets that makes it feel like a luxury getaway. The fact that all the cottages are spaced far apart, makes it feel like you are all alone in the bushveld. The drive from Pretoria makes it possible to visit for a weekend. We also like the fact that you can take drives in your own vehicle, great walks and bike rides. The kids really get in touch with nature this way."

"We have stayed at Izintaba a few times over the past 6/7 years. We love this place. All their accommodation is awesome. The thing we love the most is that we are able to explore the farm on our own. Every time we visit we see something new."

"We have been visiting 3 to 4 times per year, for the past 10 years! This speaks for itself."
