Budget Getaways Review
It’s true to be said that one should never judge a book by its cover. This is certainly the case for Mossel Bay. It doesn’t look like much from the car window as you’re zooting down the N2, but get into the old quarter, beaches and harbour area and it’s a different kettle of fish.
Searle’s Manor is a beautifully restored sandstone building, dating back to 1902, when it was the warehouse for traders, Searle's & Co of Great Brak River. Fast Forward 110 years and the building has been divided up into modern apartments and offices.
Apartment 13 can accommodate up to five guests and comprises two bedrooms, a mezzanine level, and one bathroom. The main bedroom is furnished with a double bed, and the second bedroom is equipped with twin beds. The mezzanine level has a single sleeper couch suitable for a fifth guest. The shared bathroom is fitted with a corner bath, basin, and a toilet.
You’ve got a well-equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave, oven and hob, as well as a washing machine and a tumble-dryer for convenience. The adjacent lounge has a TV with DSTV connection (Bring their own smart card, decoder and cables). There’s free WiFi available in the apartment.
Location wise, you couldn’t be more central than this, with shops, main road, restaurants, museum, harbour and beaches all within easy reach and even walking distance from the apartment. Nice!
So, if you’re wanting to get into the heart of Mossel Bay, where you can enjoy it all without the hassle of driving miles to get to everything, then Searl’s is your spot.
