Budget Getaways Review
Scrutinising the guest comments that came our way, Speedo is a good-to-know option for families, as it appears to be both sensibly appointed and comfortable. To illustrate...
"Relaxing atmosphere with all the luxuries you have at home. We stay there every time we visit Onrus. It is a very quiet area, with the sea and playground for children within walking distance."
"Spacious, with a cosy interior and relaxing exterior, my family had a very nice holiday. Close enough to all shops as well as the swimming beach, yet far away enough from the main street."
Turning to the house itself and setting aside those sordid images of hubbie prancing around in a leopard-print thong by the same name, Speedo is double-storey abode situated about 10 minutes (on foot) from the Onrus tidal pool and 5 minutes from the local playpark. With two double bedrooms downstairs, an ensuite room and loft area upstairs it can sleep a total 10 guests - as such a good option for two or three young families wanting to weekend together. Note that neither linen nor towels are provided.
The furnishings and decor are simple, yet comfortable and fairly child-proof. The kitchen is fully equipped, the lounge and dining area open-plan and with fireplace. To the back you'll find a spot to braai your chops, as well as an outside room with washing machine should you decide to extend your stay.
If you're not too particular about being bum on beachfront, Speedo is a worthy family option close enough to the Hermanus action, yet not right in the thick of things.
"We had a wonderful stay at Speedo. Chilled, relaxing and certainly a place we would go to again. A pity we didn't have great weather but we made good use of the rain and cold weather with good old fashioned quality time playing boardgames, etc, with the family. Thanks for the opportunity of staying at Speedo. We loved it and will definitely be back."

"As a holiday home for a family or group of friends, this house was most definitely worth it. Spacious, with a cosy interior and relaxing exterior, my family had a very nice holiday. Close enough to all shops as well as the swimming beach, yet far away enough from the main street. We would recommend this holiday house to anyone as you will have a wonderful, relaxing holiday at Speedo."
