Lying along the banks of the Gourits River, Wheatland's Chalets are four neat and tidy little holiday abodes on the Lamont Farm, a large sheep and grain farm just 7 kays from Vleesbaai.
Along with the farm’s wide open spaces and relaxed atmosphere, you’ve got a whopping 10 kilometres of river frontage to explore, not to mention the coastline which is just a stone’s throw away.
Let’s take a look at the chalets themselves. Positioned alongside each other, making this a great option for a few families or a group of friends booking together, each chalet sleeps four in an open plan setup. Tastefully decorated and furnished, there’s a queen bed for mom and dad, and built-in bunk beds for the kids. The living area has two comfy couches and a dining table, while the equipped kitchenette with hob, microwave, kettle and toaster is perfectly set up for self-catering.
Fronting each chalet are covered patios which have outdoor seating and built-in braais (bring your own wood). The patio’s spill down onto a large lawned area, where you’ve got soothing views out over the farm and you're guaranteed sightings of springbok and eland while you’re sipping on your morning coffee. There's even a wood fired hot tub available on request and charged at R200 per day.
There’s loads to keep you busy here, both on and off the farm. If fishing’s your thing then you’re in the right place, the river is on your doorstep. Enjoy the hiking and mountain bike trails on and around the farm. Bring your kayak or boat and explore the Gourits River. For an educational experience, you can even tag along and experience some of our farming operations. Off the farm there’s both Mossel Bay and Vleesbaai to explore.
With well-priced and nicely appointed accommodation and plenty to keep you going on the farm itself, we’d say a weekend or two at Wheatland's looks like loads of fun. So gather some friends or family and get yourselves ready for a great combination of farm, river and ocean all packaged into one.
