Thabazimbi Snapshot

Right in the heart of the Lowveld, at the foot of the Waterberg Mountains, you will be welcomed into the old iron-mining town of Thabazimbi. It was a monstrous iron ore reef that put Thabazimbi on the map back in the early 1900’s, and today over two million tons of ore are mined from “The mountain of iron” each year.

It’s not all about the mine though, less than a 3 hour drive from Johannesburg, Thabazimbi is gaining popularity as a family friendly destination for its platter of budget bush-getaways on offer.

The area is also renowned for incredible hiking trails, some great MTB routes and close proximity to game reserves, The Ben Alberts and Marakele Reserves to name a few.

An up-and-coming eco-tourism town, Thabazimbi is bound to throw some pleasant surprises your way on your next visit.
