Budget Getaways Review
A few choice guest comments to get things on the road: “Unpretentiously unique.” “A hidden gem.” “Weekend away of pure bliss.” “Beautiful stay under the stars”.
Hemmed in by a gorge at the base of the majestic Olifants Mountains 10 kays outside Citrusdal, Elephant Leisure Resort has recently fallen under new ownership and has the makings of a great group or family getaway, as well as wedding or conference venue.
Outdoor action is on easy tap here: kayaking and fishing on a private stretch of the Olifants River (about 1km from your accommodation), gorge hikes and mountain bike trails on site and nearby.
Accommodation comes in the form of six double chalets for couples, and four two-bedroomed chalets for families.
All are privately appointed and within walking distance of the communal pool, kiddies playground and boma and braai area.
Zooming in closer, the chalets offer more than sufficient home comfort: air-con, TV, fireplace, valley, covered stoeps with mountain or garden views.
The two-sleeper units are open-plan and sport a jacuzzi on the patio - crack open the Graca, crank up the bubbles, and enjoy! (R100 per day extra is charged for the jacuzzi)
Best you opt for a two-bedroom family chalet if you have the team in tow - two ensuite bedrooms and equipped kitchenettes are among the features.
For a night under canvas, keep an eye out for the Tented Camp - soon to be added to the mix.
From spacious and comfortable accommodation, to calm vistas and gorgeous mountain surrounds, Elephant Leisure Resort holds great promise. We're keen to hear all about it.
"We absolutely love it there! Beautiful place and well run. The best part is that it is pet friendly, and my dogs love it as much as we do."

"Total bliss from the moment we arrived, everything ready, hot Jacuzzi, dry firewood, firelighters and matches, no need getting burnt, even braai gloves was provided. There is no need to bring anything with, it's truly a home away from home. Where else will you get fresh coffee beans and a electric grinder for your early morning coffee?! While enjoying our hike along the trail we were greeted by the delightful new owners and what a pleasant bunch, taking the time to have a quick chat with visitors. Anja, a true gem always friendly and trying to make your stay as comfortable as possible, nothing is too much for her. Cooling off in the Jacuzzi while enjoying the beautiful views or relaxing on the bed under the aircon, there's a tv but who needs that in this tranquil surroundings?! We were so sad to leave on Sunday but I was so happy I chose Elephant Leisure Resort for my birthday weekend. We drove away with our mind, body and souls rejuvenated."

"Definitely value for money! Lovely breakaway in this pristine setting. Waking up to bird songs coming from the pond and early morning hiking on the moderate trail is definitely a highlight. However, lazing in the Jacuzzi in front of a fire under the immaculate night sky is a strong contender. And the beautiful cutlery and glasses is worth mentioning. The unspoiled attitude of the staff is unparalled. The friendly Christel and helpful Warren enhances the pleasure of staying there and the genuine interest of the owner in the comfort of his guests places the cherry on the cake. Will definitely go back."

"A delightful escape! After a long week, I was persuaded to spend an evening relaxing at Elephant Leisure. I was a bit unsure of how it would work out in light of the prior reviews but, wow, I am so glad I went for it anyway. Elephant Leisure is much closer to Cape Town than many of its peer resorts in the Cederberg, yet, some special magic of geography occurs there such that you dont see any town and the feel is of total wilderness. Within an hour of arriving, the stillness of the place matched by the sunset and a lovely braai, erased from my mind the doubts I had about the property. It also helped that the interior was spotless and it appears that new glasses, cutlery, and those details have been attended to. I had a chance run-in with the owner who seemed quite determined to make the place a success, which I believe he already has. I look forward to enjoying, again, the fynbos, birds, and big night sky at Elephant Leisure."

"Elephant Leisure Resort is one of our favourite places to stay. Anja always goes out of her way to make sure our booking runs smoothly. We also bumped into the owner Werner who told us about his new plans for Elephant Leisure and we look forward to returning and using the new hiking trails and stay in the updated accommodation. The setting is amazing and the Jacuzzi's are an awesome added bonus."
