Budget Getaways Review
If you're off to the Mother City and want to be in the thick of the action, this swanky urban pad hits the soft spot.
On general vibe you could be staying in one of the globe's trendy neighbourhoods - Paris, New York, Berlin, you name it. But in this particular case, at a fraction of the cost - and by implication, at double the enjoyment.
From Kloof Street Apartment, it's a pleasant stroll to a huge choice of coffee shops, restaurants, decor shops, the lovely Company Gardens (with great outdoor restaurant), galleries, and heaps more. In other words, you can't hope for a more useful CBD springboard.
Waking to the Muslim call to prayer from Bo Kaap across the way, sitting on the balcony sipping an espresso (note to self: pack white robe and slippers), watching the Mother City come to life below - welcome to a day in the life of Global Man.
The two-bedroomed apartment sits on the north facing sixth floor of a small block, and is all you’d expect from a slick urban pad: muted colours, minimalist decor and furniture, cityscape views second to few.
In terms of layout, there's a King and double bedroom - with shared bathroom with shower and bath. As such, ideal for two couples or a small family.
The living area is is open-plan to a well-equipped kitchen with breakfast counter. Off to one side, stack doors open to the balcony and its vista over the city, Table Mountain and Lions Head.
Down on ground level, you’ve got private and secure parking, and super easy access to buzzy Kloof St and its bars, eateries, deli’s and coffee shops.
The V&A Waterfront, Clifton and Camps Bay are all a short drive away, whether in your own car or via the city's impressive new bus network. In fact, between bus and Uber, you don't even need a car.
Slick, practical and bullseye in the heart of the Mother City.
