Budget Getaways Review

Lion Tree Bush Lodge gazes through the marula canopy in Marloth Park, a 3000ha private bushveld reserve adjoining Kruger Park.

This simple and secluded base in the heart of the bush is for your exclusive use - an Out of Africa experience of golden sunsets from the deck, cicada beetles, and the roar of distant lions cutting the night sky.

Donning the veldskoene and taking a closer look at your abode, what we have here is an elevated rustic timber and thatch chalet, incorporating a roomy open-plan living, kitchen and dining area that opens to a long timber deck.

Sleeping-wise, there are two bedrooms: the main ensuite with Queen bed and bathroom with shower, and the second with twin beds. Up the stairs and onto the mezzanine, there are a further four single beds - the kids will have a ball here.

It's not over... For a night under the African skies, head over to the lookout, an elevated thatched viewing deck with a double bed. Nice!

Common to all the room are fans, mozzie nets and quality linen. In keeping with an away-from-it-all bush holiday, there's thankfully no TV or internet.

Out on the deck you’ve got a Weber braai and splash pool to cool off in - good thing, because this neck of the woods can get pretty darn hot.

With Kruger’s Crocodile Bridge Gate a mere 14 kays away, heading into the park for your early morning or sundowner drive is a doddle. Nearby Lionspruit Reserve is also an option. And, for a bite out, there are a number of restaurants within Marloth Park itself.

Simple, comfortable, private, good value, plenty of wildlife on your doorstep (figuratively speaking), glowing reviews on Tripadvisor, your fantasy bush holiday is now one step closer to reality.

Guest Reviews

"Other than a few lights being out, it is a fantastic bush getaway. Don't expect luxury, but clean, comfortable accommodation and more than enough facility. Being in the heart of the bush, makes for a secluded, quiet getaway."

"Great location, great facilities and honestly no other place I'd rather go for a break away. Will definitely be returning."

"Een prachtig en gezellig huis midden in de natuur. Het sterrenbed is een vonds. Zeer compleet uitgerust en een heel goede "gebruiksaanwijzing ". Een echte aanrader zeker voor grotere gezinnen. Hoop hier nog eens terug te komen."

"We have just returned from almost a week in the Lion Tree Bush Lodge and it was great. What an experience to sleep outside, to relax in the pool and see the giraffes, zebras and the warthogs so close. If you want to relax and enjoy the nature, this is the place to be! Will definitely come back."
