Budget Getaways Review
Let's kick off our review of Seagetaway with a few guest comments... "This is a house and a view for more than two days." "We want to stay here forever! The house, surroundings and activities were all fantastic." "Accommodation even better than expected. Has been a holiday of a lifetime. A big thank you Dave for your personal attention. Rest assured we will be back!"
Appointed about 3km from Simon's Town and less than five minutes on foot to the local beaches, Seagetaway is a neat and comfortable self-catering cottage. The fact that it's also a mere hop and skip from the city makes it a good choice for Capetonians for a weekend away from the humdrum.
The cottage features two bedrooms a single bed in the lounge - as such it can accommodate a total five guests. The main bedroom is ensuite, with a queen bed and magnificent sea views, while the second bedroom also comes with great outlook and two single beds. Apart from space for a fifth guest the living area features DSTV and a DVD player, as well as free WiFi - plenty in the way of options when the grumpy Cape Doctor is huffing and puffing. All linen and towels (excluding beach towels) are provided.
The kitchen is fully equipped, with all the mod-cons, including oven and hob, microwave, a breakfast counter with bar stools, etc. The living area opens to a patio - with built-in braai and yet another view across the bay - and a private sheltered garden with an excellent selection of herbs for those al fresco meals.
Besides the free-standing cottage, Seagateway also has three self-catering apartments. These are nearby and a handy option if the extended family, second cousins and in-laws suddenly decide to be part of your seaside jaunt.
To do? Wake up to the sun rising above the distant mountains and watch the whales from the comfort of your bed (July to October); take an early morning stroll down to Fisherman's beach; head to Boulders beach to say hi to the penguins, followed by a dip and breakfast or coffee at one of many local eateries; hop on your bike and cycle to Cape Point and beyond; buy a fish at Kalk Bay for the evening braai... Whatever happens you won't be bored.
"The family spent a rainy weekend at Seagetaway and it was great. The rooms were spotless and Dave was most helpful and accommodating. It certainly is great value for money if you need to spend a few nights in Cape Town."

"My wife and I had a wonderful time; swam every morning and most evenings (10min walk or 3min by car). The house is in a quiet area and near to Simon's Town (10min). Great restaurants nearby. The Peninsula is easily accessible by car (necessary) and very beautiful to explore. At Cape Point a male Chamca baboon sat on the roof of my car. Got a lovely photo of him sitting there. I sent it to TV3 weather news in Ireland and he was shown by the presenter. We are planning a return in 2012 and hope the house is available to us."
