Budget Getaways Review
Old world charm and a pleasant setting against the backdrop of the Klein River Mountains makes this pair of historic cottages a choice getaway for small groups or two families looking for a weekend in Stanford.
Kicking off with the larger of the two, Cobbler's Cottage has three bedrooms and oodles of country charm, from exposed beam and dakriet ceilings, to rough plaster and screeded floors, to a nice complement of antique furnishings.
Cobbler's comes with three bedrooms (a double and two singles) and three bathrooms (one with bath), which means no standing in long queues come the morning.
The kitchen has a distinctly country feel, and is open-plan to a dining and living room, where you’ll find a telly and open fireplace.
Outside you have a large enclosed garden area with pretty courtyard and covered entertainment patio.
Moving on to the Morton Cottage, you’ll find the same attention to detail, with a mix of modern and antique decor. The cottage has two bedrooms - a double ensuite with shower and a twin bedroom with shared bathroom.
The small kitchen has a Dover stove and is open-plan to a cozy living room (again with TV), and a dining area.
Heading outside, there's a covered patio leading onto the lawned garden.
Parking for both cottages is off-street - with Cobbler's featuring own carport.
Now, very important… Frisco freaks will be thrilled to hear that Stanford Stay is neighbour to the Stanford Coffee Corner - a gesellig village favourite for that morning hit.
The guest feedback coming in has so far been all good. With comments like, “We couldn't believe how beautifully the cottages were decorated; they certainly exude the character and charm of the village itself,” Stanford Stay gets our nod for a stylish, comfortable and convenient stay.
"Fantastic stay! Quaint, comfortable and well equipped!"

"We recently stayed in the "Cobblers Cottage" of Stanford Stay's ray of cottages, this past Easter weekend. Everything was perfect, lovely setup, fresh crispy linen, everything in the house was well catered for 6 persons, all very clean and presentable, lovely huge garden which our four dogs loved running around. Definitely worth visiting and it would be an awesome getaway to visit during the winter months (books in hand) with the lounge and one bedroom having fireplaces."

"The Tailor's cottage was so beautiful, we didn't want or need to leave the house. Thank you for a lovely, relaxing anniversary weekend."

"Lovely cottage, has everything you need. More spacious than it might appear in the photos. Worth noting that it has three good sized bedrooms which work well for three couples (albeit that there is only one double bed the others are two single which can be pushed together). Only wish we'd had more time."

"Beautiful set up, lovely village of Stanford which in few years will be a very popular place. We enjoyed the stay in Cobblers cottage, with lovely family feeling, comfy beds and lovely yard. Will definitely come again."

"We stayed at Taylor's cottage for two nights in August. The cottage has three big bedrooms with crisp white bedding, loads of cupboard space and a kitchen almost better than my own at home! New modern bathrooms. The enclosed garden has a great braai area where we lolled about on Sunday resisting the nearby bird hide and 'wandelpad'. Taylor's cottage is full of thoughtful quirky detail and would happily cope with 6 people staying. The only downside was the lack of TV so there was no cricket to watch. A great getaway."
