Tucked away among trees along the banks of the Kromme River, The Cabin is your rustic river shack of old. The kind of place where life is lived in torn shorts and slops, where the day's catch is eaten with sticky fingers straight from the open fire.
Equipped with everything you need for a simple, no-nonsense family break, The Cabin has one double bedroom and a set of bunk beds in the living room for the kids - hell, what more does one really need?!
If you're inclined to wash, there's a shared bathroom with shower. The kitchen, although small, is well geared for self-catering and comes with breakfast counter for casual grazing.
The kitchen is open-plan to the living room, where you'll find a comfy couch and a TV to plonk in front of with your dearest and nearest: the Black Label quart.
Head through the sliding doors and you're on the covered patio, with garden and waters' edge beyond.
Explore the wooded strip along the river, fish to your heart's content, take your boat for a ride (there is a jetty), drive down to the beach, pop into town for a stock-up, The Cabin is the best of all worlds.
A back-to-basics riverside break, with privacy and a soothing setting second to few in St Francis.
"Was very happy with our chalet for the three days we were there. It's a bit of a drive off the tar roads, about 15km, so make sure you bring enough of everything with you to save driving back into town. Once you're there, you'll be glad you stocked up because you won't want to waste any time driving anywhere. The location is brilliant. Just a short walk from the river where there is a private jetty with mooring possibilities for those of you with boats. Peter and his wife were very welcoming and helpful. The river is brilliant for fishing and prawns are easily pumped on the banks of the river. The accommodation is good with a double bed and a bunk bed in the lounge room. Hot water is gas so no problem with load shedding there! Overall a very happy stay and i will definitely be back in the future."
