Family owned and run, The Salt House Guesthouse is perfectly positioned above Hout Bay, and as such makes for a handy base to enjoy the Mother City and her surrounds.

Flicking through the guest feedback, the reviews paint a glowy picture combining value for money, excellent accommodation and super-friendly atmosphere. The Salt House sits in a pretty garden setting overlooking the mountains around Hout Bay, with the blue ocean in the distance.

There are a total nine ensuite bedrooms, each in a slightly different configuration. For couples, there are six double rooms. Halite Room and Red Rock Room offers garden views, Namak and Kala Rooms have their own balconies and views of the valley and ocean, while Sel Gris and Fleur de Sel Rooms overlook the swimming pool. All have ensuite bathrooms.

For families, you’ve got three options. For a taster, the Himalayan Family Room offers a separate bedroom with double bed and an additional single bed located in the living room. Mineral Self-Catering Apartment is an upstairs unit with separate Queen bedroom and a double sleeper couch in the lounge - plus a balcony and equipped kitchen. Last up, Crystal Self-Cateriing Apartment comes with King bed and double sleeper couch in the living room. This unit zips open to the pool area and garden.

Adding value to your hard-earned ZA ronts, the room rates include a hearty breakfast, served in the communal dining area or on the patio. Then there's full use of the pool and garden, as well as secure off-street parking.

Better value for money is hard to find in this neck of the woods. Comfy rooms and living spaces, mooi setting and central location, this one ticks all the boxes for that upcoming city blitz.
