Budget Getaways Review
About 40 kays from Graaff-Reinet, in what feels like the middle of nowhere, sits Eenzaamheid Holiday Farm. Eenzaamheid is a working farm that has been in the Theron family since 1818.
Eenzaamheid offers two cosy self catering cottages where you can spend your weekend. The Old Cottage is the bigger of the two cottages. It has three ensuite bedrooms that provide plenty of space for up to ten guests (yes, TEN!). The kitchen and lounge areas are open plan and nice and spacious. The indoor fireplace is great to ward off the winter chill should you be visiting during the cooler months.
The New Cottage is better suited to a couple or a family with small children. The bedroom has a double bed as well as two singles and the bathroom is separate. Also equipped for self catering, the New Cottage has a cosy lounge area with a fireplace as well as a private enclosed garden.
If you are looking for a fuss-free break, Eenzaamheid serves up not only a delicious breakfast, but also a wholesome, hearty, Karoo-style supper.
Fabulous food aside, what better way to experience the Karoo Heartland than on a working farm complete with a couple of horses and a herd of sheep to boot. The solitude and stillness that come standard when staying over at Eenzaamheid are sure to leave you feeling a little less tightly wound and a lot more refreshed.
"My husband and myself needed a quiet place to stay on the way home to Johannesburg from Cape Town.We had a lovely private room with bathroom with outside entrance. Room beautifully decorated with antique furniture and very comfortable beds. Before departing next morning host Stephanie provided us with a delicious breakfast. I will recommend this farm stay to anyone."

"We stayed for just one night en-route to Sedgefield but it was a welcome oasis to break the journey. Wonderful to spend time on a real farm, great scenery and clear stars, comfortable accommodation. "
