Budget Getaways Review

Going back a hundred years or so, Infinity was once a little school for the local farm kids, who would traipse barefoot across hill and dale for their daily lessons.

Today the school and wider Infinity Farm has been reinvented into a tranquil permaculture oasis.

Eighteen kays from Riversdale and appointed along a very quiet dirt road (so we are assured) under a swathe of blue gum trees, the cottage is a simple affair with old world charm: Oregon floors, timber beams, basic furnishings and minimal decor, a stoep with a view, a double bedroom and a second with bunk beds for the kiddies.

The open-plan living area comes with couches, dining table and a kitchen powered by gas and solar.

Staying off the grid, there's a braai stocked with firewood and outside table under the gums. There's also a herb garden, which you’re welcome to dip into.

Apart from languishing on the front stoep with endless mugs of coffee, there are easygoing farm strolls on the farm and surrounding fynbos, and plenty good spots for a picnic.

Riversdale and it modest attractions and a decent restaurant or two is 18km up the road, while Still Bay's beach is a 30km drive.

A simple, no-nonsense getaway that makes for a pleasant family break or stop-over on your way to the Garden Route.

Guest Reviews

"This getaway is one of a kind! We stayed for two nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. Steven and Hildegard are the best hosts and we definitely recommend trying some of their delicious bread. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was amazing. The cottage is private with its own braai area and lovely herb and veggie garden out back, and beautiful views all round. We will definitely be returning soon."
